After leaving the restaurant together, Teresa and Hector stood by the roadside, waiting for a taxi. >
With Richard still at Joyacre Villa, Teresa knew she’d probably have to go back there tonight.
So for now, she really didn’t want to head home yet.
She turned to Hector and suggested, “Hector, let’s take a walk first. I’m still feeling a bit stuffed from dinner.”
Hector, who was more than happy to spend more time with her, agreed immediately. “Sure.”
Shoulder to shoulder, they began strolling down the street.
The road ahead looked endless, vanishing into the distance.
Most of their conversations circled around hospital life–patients, colleagues, and all the chaos that came with it.
Before they knew it, nearly an hour had slipped by.
Seeing that it was getting late, Teresa finally decided she should head home.
Hector offered to walk her back, but Teresa just waved him off. “It’s fine, I can get there on my own,” she said.
As soon as Teresa got into the taxi, her phone started blowing up with WhatsApp notifications.
It wasn’t just one or two pings–her phone went off over ten times.
‘It’s either something from work, or Wendy spamming me again, Teresa thought, glancing at the screen.
She unlocked her phone and opened WhatsApp, only to see Troy’s profile picture staring back at her, with a whopping 18 unread
messages.
But when she opened the chat, all she saw were a bunch of “This message has been deleted” notifications.
Teresa frowned, confused. She typed out a quick “?” and hit send.
Troy replied almost instantly: [Oops, wrong button.]
Teresa paused for a second before replying: [Oh.]
That was the end of it–their chat just came to a sudden, awkward halt.
Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Troy kept checking his phone every few seconds, hoping for another message from Teresa.
Nothing. He kept letting out frustrated sighs, one after another.
The actress beside him just sat there quietly, not daring to make a sound.
After sighing a few more times, Troy suddenly perked up, as if a light bulb had gone off above his head. He snatched up his phone and dove straight into Naomi’s chat.
He typed, erased, typed again–hesitating, then finally settled on one blunt line: [Wanna hook up?]
Right then, Naomi was in the study with Charles. The moment Troy’s message popped up, she got such a shock she almost flung ber phone across the room.
Charles was flipping through some documents, while Naomi was digging into possible research topics.
Even though Charles had already strong–armed Cedric into getting Hector to handle the research project, Naonu knew she couldn’t relax until everything was officially settled.
She’d busted her ass to get into this PhD program–there was no way she’d let all that hard work go down the dram
With a doctorate under her belt, she’d be meeting a whole different crowd and seeing doors open that were previously closed
When she saw the message from Troy, Naomi nearly dropped her phone–heart pounding, a nervous sweat instantly breaking out.

Charles picked up on her reaction right away, putting his documents aside and turning to her, worried. “What’s wrong?”
Naomi’s cheeks turned crimson. She slammed her phone facedown onto the desk and stammered, “N–Nothing, really.
Charles didn’t believe her for a second. He reached for her phone, determined to get a look.
Seeing that, Naomi quickly pressed his hand down, trying to cover up. “Charles, it’s just a video my friend sent me.”
Charles frowned, concern flickering across his face. “Is something wrong? Can’t I have a look?”
Seeing he was insisting, Naomi spoke softly, “Promise you won’t get upset if you see it.”
Charles, curious about her secrecy, agreed, “Alright, I won’t get mad.”

Seeing his reaction, Naomi finally picked up her phone, scrolled to her friend’s message with the shared video link, tapped it open, and handed her phone over to Charles for him to watch.
Charles went back to his work, while Naomi sat there, flipping through research papers, but her mind kept wandering.
Thinking it over, Naomi powered off her tablet and said softly to Charles, her voice a little hesitant, “Charles, I’m done studying for today. I just want to go home and relax.”
Charles pulled on a jacket and headed out with Naomi, escorting her downstairs.
Richard had already turned in for the night; otherwise, Charles would never have let Naomi drop by so easily.
After dropping Naomi off, Charles didn’t hang around–he went straight back to Joyacre Villa.
Once she was back at Charles’s new place, Naomi sank onto the couch and texted Troy: [Mr. Hamilton, are you really so desperate you can’t even wait?]

The photos and videos were crystal clear–Troy and the actress looked really cozy together.
Watching those scenes, Naomi clicked her tongue in annoyance.
Just then, another message from Troy popped up: [?]

Naomi replied: [Mr. Hamilton, I want a man who’s all about me, not someone always surrounded by a flock of women. That just makes me feel like I’ll never be the only one.]
Sure, Troy clearly wanted her, but Naomi was curious–would he actually change for her?
Getting a womanizer to settle down? Now that would be the ultimate win.
When Troy read her message, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
He turned off his phone and didn’t bother replying.
He thought this would be easy, certain he had Naomi in the palm of his hand–but she was a lot tougher to crack than he’d ever guessed
Even so, Troy couldn’t help sending one more message: [Buzzkill.]
Just two words, but when Naomi saw them, she only smirked and actually scoffed a little–pure disdain in her eyes.
Ever since she became an adult, Naomi had learned one truth: if you let a man sleep with you too easily, he’d stop valuing you in no
time.
Naomi knew from experience: the more effort a man had to put in, the less likely he was to walk away. Letting him invest was the key to making him care.
Troy was always surrounded by gorgeous women, but none ever seemed to last. Maybe that was because he never had to try–they just fell into his lap, so why would he bother keeping any of them?
But Naomi was determined to be different the one who stood out from the crowd, the one he’d never be able to get out of his head.
So she just left his message on read, not giving him the satisfaction of a reply.
After all, leaving him hanging might just make him even more obsessed.
