Teresa paused mid–step on her way out, unable to hold back. She turned to Andrew, her tone frosty. “Saying stuff like that only shows what kind of person you really are.”
Andrew had never liked Teresa, and now her comeback made his blood boil. “Say that one more time!” he barked.
Teresa scoffed with a cold laugh. “I could say it ten times, it wouldn’t change a thing. You’re nothing but worthless trash.”
Andrew snapped. He hurled his phone aside and strode up to Teresa. “You’re begging for trouble.”
Getting close, Andrew lifted his hand, about to hit her.
But before his hand could fall, a deep and commanding shout thundered from upstairs. “Andrew, stop right there!”
It was Charles.
At the sound of his older brother’s voice, Andrew instinctively froze and jerked his hand back.
Charles, dressed in light gray pajamas, came down the stairs one step at a time.
With every step Charles took, it felt like a blow landing square on Andrew’s chest.

It wasn’t until Charles got close that Andrew finally muttered, “Charles.”

But Charles was ruthless–he didn’t let it slide for a second. He slammed his foot right into the back of Andrew’s knee, unforgiving.
The kick packed so much power, Andrew almost buckled, barely managing not to collapse on the spot.
When Andrew finally steadied himself, Charles fixed him with a piercing glare. “Is that how you speak to Teresa?”
Andrew kept his head down, grumbling, “No, she’s the one who’s changed. She doesn’t cook or clean anymore. That’s why I couldn’t help but want to set her straight.”
Charles’s voice was ice–cold and low. “Do you really think you have the right to put her in her place?”
Andrew just stared at the floor, not saying a word.
Charles pressed on, his voice sharp. “Is Teresa the Logan family’s maid?
Andrew shook his head. “No.”
Charles shot back, “So why do you expect her to cook and clean?”
Andrew’s head jerked up, eyes blazing at Charles. “But she used to handle everything around here! She even cooked all those great
meals for me!”
Charles’s fury shot through his voice, drowning Andrew out. “Well, from now on, she doesn’t have to lift a finger. Not for anyone.”
Andrew protested, voice bitter. “Charles, you’re just pampering her way too much.”
Charles ignored him and just asked coldly, “What are you doing here at the Logan house?
Andrew grumbled, ‘I haven’t seen Yolanda in ages. Just thought I’d drop by to see her”
Charles snapped, “She’s upstairs. If you want to see her go up. Don’t just stand around down here annoying everyone.”
Andrew gave a reluctant “Okay” and trudged upstairs, obviously in no mood.
Ever since Charles came downstairs, Teresa kept her eyes on hum
She watched as he stood up for her–kicking Andrew speaking out on her behalf.
But her heart remained unchanged, not a single ripple stirring inside her
For a moment. Teresa wondered, ‘So, he really can defend me

After Andrew left, Charles turned to Teresa and said, “If he ever bothers you again, just come to me. I’ll make sure it won’t happen—”
But before he could finish, Teresa cut him off, her voice cool. “I have to get to work. I’m heading out.”
Without another word, she turned and walked away, not the slightest bit of hesitation in her stride.
Charles watched her leave, but couldn’t shake the strange, unsettled feeling inside.
Upstairs, Andrew went to check Yolanda’s room, but didn’t see her anywhere.
Yolanda threw herself into Andrew’s arms, hugging him around the waist as she spoke in a small, soft voice. “No, I’m just feeling a little under the weather.”
In his mind, Andrew cursed Teresa yet again. ‘Damn woman, how could you make Yolanda so upset? You really have a death wish,‘ he grumbled to himself.
Andrew smiled, ruffling Yolanda’s hair. “You’re such a good kid, Yolanda.”
That gentle nickname sent a chill right through Andrew–he couldn’t hide the grin that spread across his face as he turned to her. “Naomi,” he replied, all smiles.
Seeing his cheeks and ears burning red, Naomi instantly knew he was super shy
She reached up and gave his forehead a playful knock, smirking. Look at you. Andrew all grown up and acting all manly now.”
He really liked Naorui–she was beautiful whenever she played the piano, all focus and grace, and the music she played completely captivated him.

Until today, Andrew had always hidden his feelings, just quietly crushing from afar and never daring to imagine anything real could happen between them.
But today, Naomi had actually ruffled his hair.

Right then, Andrew felt like he could float away, like he was stepping on clouds.
He looked down at Naomi, feeling his ears practically on fire, and mumbled shyly, “Naomi, you really love teasing me.”
Andrew was younger than Naomi, and seeing him so bashful because of her made Naomi feel a little proud of herself.
Naomi flashed him a gentle smile. “You’ve grown up, Andrew, and you’ve definitely gotten more handsome.”
Andrew really liked being praised by her, but there was something he just couldn’t forget.
Naomi belonged to Charles.
So after that brief rush of happiness, his face turned a little serious. He looked at Naomi and said, “Doesn’t matter how good look, I could never mean as much to you as Charles does.”
Naomi gave him a gentle smile. “Both you and
are important to me, Andrew.
Andrew paused, about to say something, but in the end he swallowed the words and stayed quiet.
Noticing his hesitation, Naomi didn’t press him. Instead, she reached out and ruffled his hair again, teasing softly, “You’re such a good kid, Andrew. I really do like you.”
Her words clearly held something more, and Naomi’s eyes glimmered with a mischievous smile,
Andrew didn’t even get what Naomi meant, but she was already heading upstairs before he had a chance to react.
