Teresa turned at the commotion and spotted Yolanda standing atop a rock, jabbing her finger at Zane’s head while hurling a stream of obscenities.

Without hesitation, Teresa strode over, clenching her fingers so tightly her knuckles turned white.

Silently, rage churned inside her—‘Just who does she think she is?‘ Teresa fumed to herself.

But before Teresa could get even a few feet closer to Yolanda, Monica came charging out of nowhere.

Without hesitation, Monica lunged straight at Yolanda, knocking her off the rock and slamming her down onto the ground.

Monica didn’t pull any punches. While Yolanda was still stunned, Monica climbed on top of her, raining hard slaps down onto her face and body.

Yolanda was your typical sheltered rich girl–fighting just wasn’t in her repertoire. outmatched from the start.

The ruckus from the two girls brawling wasn’t quiet at all. Even Naomi, who was laser–focused on breaking the ice with Troy, couldn’t help but frown at the noise, clearly irritated by the interruption.

Naomi strode over to where Yolanda was getting beaten, calling out, “Monica, do you realize what you’re doing? If Charles finds out about this, you think you won’t get into serious trouble?”

Her words were clearly aimed at Teresa, using Charles’s name to pressure her into stepping in and breaking up the fight.

But Teresa didn’t move a muscle; she just stared coldly, letting Monica keep hitting Yolanda.

Yolanda was sobbing hysterically, but she kept threatening through her tears, “Monica, if you don’t stop, I’ll have my dad take you out— he’ll wipe out your whole family!”

Monica wasn’t fazed in the slightest–she just kept pummeling

landa, completely ignoring her threats.

In the end, Yolanda’s bravado faded fast; her fierce threats shrank to pitiful whimpers, until her voice was barely more than a whisper.

Naomi started to really freak out. She was terrified Monica might go way overboard and actually beat Yolanda up for real–if something actually happened to Yolanda, how on earth was she supposed to explain that to Charles?

Se Naomi hurried over, ready to stop the fight herself.

But suddenly, Teresa reached out and grabbed her arm, blocking her way.

Naomi whipped around to Teresa, her face twisted in disbelief, and snapped, “Teresa! Yolanda’s your own daughterare you really just gonna stand there and let her get mauled like this? Maybe even killed? Is this what passes for motherhood to you?*

Teresa gave Naomi a cold, poisonous stare–her eyes like daggers dipped in venom.

Her voice could freeze someone solid. “She brought this on herself. She gets what she deserves.”

Naomi paused, stunned. Teresa, you…”

But after seeing Teresa’s completely indifferent look. Naomi stayed silent for a few seconds before finally saying, Charles was right. You really aren’t meant to be a mother

Naomi knew there was no way she could break up the fight now, so she just backed off and started hoping Monica wouldn’t go too crazy.

She thought to herself, As long as Monica doesn’t actually hurt her, whatever.

Yolanda wasn’t her kid, so honestly, Naomi couldn’t care less.

Watching Yolanda get pummeled, Naomi secretly kind of enjoyed it.

Meanwhile, after being called a little bastard, Zane quietly wiped his tears and slipped back over, doing his best to keep a low profile.

Seeing Monica straddling Yolanda, Zane instantly realized she was fighting for him–Monica totally had his back.

“If she dares to mouth off at you again, just tell me,” Monica said fiercely. “I swear, I’ll tear her a new one myself.”

But before her hand could even reach Yolanda, Yolanda clambered up and dashed straight into the woods.

Those words hit Teresa like a punch to the gut–her heart twisted even tighter.

‘How come Monica can be so sweet and do what she’s told, but Yolanda… Teresa couldn’t help but wonder, feeling more lost than ever. Teresa sighed inwardly, ‘Makes sense. Yolanda’s with Naomi now, so it’s out of my hands.

Teresa crouched down and gently caressed Monica’s cheek. “Monica, you don’t need to apologize to me. Those who do wrong deserve be punished for it.”

Monica hugged Teresa’s leg, sniffled, and pleaded, “Aunt Teresa, go check on Yoyo. Mr. Hamilton’s still here—he can keep me company

Teresa shook her head. “Someone already went after her. There’s no point in me going–she doesn’t need me anyway.” Monica could still sense Teresa wasn’t really okay, so she said, “Aunt Teresa, go ahead and hit me if it’ll help you calm down.”

As she spoke, she stuck out her hand, offering it up to Teresa.

Teresa just took Monica’s hand in hers, not saying a word.

Monica could see Teresa was really hurting, so she spoke up again, “Aunt Teresa, no matter what happens, I don’t regret hitting Yoyo.” Teresa looked up at Monica and managed a weak smile. “You did great, Monica. You were looking out for your friend.”

Even though Teresa’s heart ached, deep down she knew Monica hadn’t done anything wrong.

Troy stood off to the side, his hand holding Zane’s, but honestly, his heart and his gaze were fixed entirely on Teresa–like she was the only person in the world to him.

Teresa didn’t show much emotion on the surface, but Troy could see right through her–he just knew she was hurting inside, probably more than anyone else.

He felt an ache in his chest for her, but then he remembered how she’d just called him “dirty.” That cut deep, and he had to turn his fac away, trying to hide how much it stung.

No matter how hard he tried not to make a fool of himself over her, he just couldn’t stop. He was totally hooked, even if it meant lowering himself again and again.
