Chapter 222
Stella made a cute face and snuggled right back up to Andrew.

Andrew gave her a frosty glance. “Seriously? You gonna try and beat her to death?”
Stella clung to his arm, whining playfully, “Pretty please? Can I just finish her off?”
Andrew saw she wasn’t kidding and let out a laugh. “If you break her, you gonna handle the consequences?”
Stella scrunched her nose and huffed, but let it drop.

Andrew turned his attention back to Teresa, who was lying flat on the hospital bed. Her face was covered in bruises, blood was still leaking from her nose, and beneath her hospital gown, her inner thigh was stained with fresh blood.
Stella hadn’t held back one bit; she’d yanked Teresa’s gown so much it was practically hanging off her, barely covering her anymore.
Right now, Teresa lay there looking completely wrecked and helpless, every inch of her body screaming with pain every time she tried to breathe.
Seeing her so beaten–down, Andrew finally felt some of that bottled–up rage inside him start to ease.
He was more than satisfied with Teresa’s pathetic state–even felt a twisted sense of pleasure seeing her like this.

After enjoying the sight for a few moments, Andrew loomed over Teresa, his massive frame blotting out the light above. He gripped her chin tight, his voice low and mocking. “Look at you. You really think someone like you can mess with me?”

Teresa forced her swollen eyelids open. She caught the scorn and mockery in Andrew’s gaze, but said nothing.
Not getting a response, Andrew shoved her chin aside sharply. “Teresa, let this be a lesson. You better pray my sister turns out alright—if anything happens to her, today’s just the start.”
Her face whipped to the side, tears spilling down and soaking into the pillow.
With those words, Andrew turned and strode away, Stella following close behind.
The room grew quiet again–so quiet Teresa could hear her own heartbeat.
She reached for her phone on the bedside table. She wanted to call the cops.
But the moment her fingers brushed the phone, it slipped from the table and fell hard to the floor.
As Teresa rolled over, she saw her phone lying on the ground, its screen cracked like
spiderweb, flickering with strange colors.
She didn’t have the strength to try again. All she could do was lie there on the bed, taking ragged breaths.
At the same time, Teresa’s tears soaked right through the pillow.
No matter how hard Teresa tried to hold it in, the sobs just broke out.
She had no idea how much time passed before her sobs finally died down.
Teresa blacked out, losing all sense of herself.
Lost in a haze, Teresa could feel someone’s hands roaming over her body she couldn’t tell if it was real or just some twisted dream.
Teresa tried to convince herself it was all in her head, but forcing her eyes open, she caught sight of a shadowy figure lingering right by her bed–a man.
Stie squinted, straining to make out his face, but he stayed just a blur, impossible to recognize.
Teresa wanted to scream, to tell the guy to get away, but all that came out was a scratchy whisper, too broken to form words—nothing that could stop him.
His hand slid slowly up from her stomach, fingers finally pausing right over her chest.
Then, accompanied by a low, mocking chuckle. Teresa heard the man finally speak–his tone twisted with a kind of cruel affection.

“What a gorgeous beauty… Never thought someone would smash up that face of yours.”
In that instant, a bone–deep chill shot through Teresa, freezing her from the inside out.
She recognized that voice–it was Ethan.

Teresa felt Ethan fumbling with the buttons of her hospital gown. Summoning all her strength, she croaked out a hoarse protest, “Get… get away from me.”
She forced her eyes wide open, and Ethan’s face came into sharp focus right in front of her.
A young nurse stepped in, her eyes narrowing as she glared at Ethan. “The patient just had surgery. She needs to rest. Family members need to leave now.”
Interrupted right before things could go any further, Ethan didn’t even blink. He calmly buttoned up his pants, moving with smug nonchalance.
Theodore?
Yvonne?
Teresa’s mind spun, trying to figure out who–if anyone—she could call for help. Who could possibly pick up right now?”
‘But when it came down to it, she couldn’t bring herself to call any of them. Not a single number felt safe.

After a long, suffocating silence, Teresa finally found her voice. “Can you call the police for me?”
The nurse hesitated for a moment, but just as she was about to call the police, Stella returned, quietly pushing open the hospital room door and stepping inside.

Stella stood in the doorway, fixing her gaze on the nurse. “You really want to think this through? Is it worth it to go against the entire Logan family for a woman with no background like her?”
The Logan family?
The nurse’s face instantly drained of color.
Catching the hope in Teresa’s eyes, the nurse faltered–and in the end, she lowered her phone, giving up on calling the police.
Seeing the nurse fold, Stella just gave a faint smile. “Only the wise know when to yield.”
With that, Stella burst out laughing and walked out with her head held high.
The nurse couldn’t bring herself to meet Teresa’s eyes, but before slipping out of the room, she quietly left her phone on the edge of the bed–and then bolted.
Teresa could tell how much this put the nurse on the spot, so she was honestly shocked the phone was still there. ‘Guess there’s still kindness left in the world,‘ she thought.
The instant Teresa grabbed the phone, she didn’t hesitate–she called the cops.
About ten minutes later, the cops showed up.
As soon as Teresa saw them, she said firmly, “Officer, I’d like to request an official injury assessment.”
The officer gave a quick nod. “Alright.”
Once the injury assessment was finished, Teresa looked at the officer, her voice trembling but determined. “Someone beat me up, and I almost got violated. Please, I just want what’s fair–help me get justice.”
