Charles’s sudden question left Naomi stunned for a moment.
But then, she figured out what was going on.

Before Naomi could even say anything, Charles caught her gaze in the mirror and asked, “You don’t want to?”
Naomi hurried to explain, “No, that’s not it. I was just thinking… I’m not her real mom. How could I take her mom’s place?”

As Charles carefully freed her hair from the zipper and smoothed it down, he said softly, “Yolanda adores you, and honestly, you’re even more of a mom to her than anyone else.”
Her smile disappeared completely as soon as Charles asked that.
She’d gone through so much just for this one sentence, but now that the moment was here, she couldn’t find a shred of happiness in herself.
Becoming a stepmom would just be the start–what about her own career?
Seeing Naomi lost in thought, Charles softly called her name, “Naomi?”
Naomi snapped back and asked quietly, “Can I really do this?”
Charles smiled warmly at her reflection in the mirror. “Of course you can, Naomi.”
Hearing that, Naomi looked down and murmured, “Mm–hmm.”
Her mind was swirling with thoughts, but not a trace of happiness could be found.
If she chose to be with Charles, what would become of her own wishes?
She’d once written her wish on a wish boat–she wanted to be loved by every man in the world.
Was it really worth settling on one tree and missing out on the whole forest just for Charles?
Just as she started picturing all those possibilities, Charles cut in out of nowhere. “But I’ve got one condition.”
Naomi blinked in surprise before asking, “What is it?”
Charles met her eyes in the mirror. “Yolanda will be our only kid. Just her–no more.”
Naomi went silent.
Seeing Naomi quiet, Charles didn’t push. He just told her softly, “Think it over, okay?”
With that, Charles stepped out of the fitting room.
Naomi stood alone in front of the mirror, torn inside.
Marrying Charles would mean a life of luxury and comfort.
But if she didn’t, she could keep enjoying the attention of countless men.
To be honest, Naomi wasn’t all that willing to become a stepmom.
Her kindness toward Yolanda was just putting on an act.
But now that Charles had laid everything out, she couldn’t help but wonder–if she didn’t agree, would he take all that kindness he’d shown her away?
After leaving the Logan Group. Roselyn was in a foul mood and decided to go on a shopping spree at the mall.

The longer she dwelled on it, the angrier she became, and before she knew it, she spat out, “Ugh, those shameless homewreckers.”
“Troy, just you wait. Sooner or later, I’m going to make you pay,” Roselyn gritted out.
When the elevator doors opened, Roselyn was still lost in her rant about Teresa and Troy. But the middle–aged woman behind her, noticing she wasn’t moving, gently tapped her on the shoulder. “Excuse me, could you move? I need to get out.”
Roselyn whipped around, furious that someone had dared to touch her. “Do you even know who I am? How dare you talk to me like that!”
Roselyn’s face turned even paler from rage. She jabbed a finger at Rose and spat, “You–you’re just as shameless!”
Rose shot her a frosty glare. “You can’t even talk straight and you’re still running your mouth? Seriously, do you really think you’re all that? I was ignoring you because you’re not worth my time, but looks like you’re getting way ahead of yourself.”
Roselyn was so furious her blood pressure spiked; she felt like she might just pass out from sheer anger.
Seeing her in that state, Rose chuckled. “Can barely even stand up, yet you want to lecture me about my son? Please. My son walks the right path–and being a lover, so what? At least it’s with someone he actually cares about–not you. Just look at how wound up you are! If you drop dead from anger, don’t come blaming me; I don’t want your bad luck rubbing off on me.”
As she spoke, Rose edged even farther away, like she was afraid Roselyn’s bad vibes might actually be contagious.
Roselyn forced herself to breathe, struggling to compose her rage. When she finally managed, she shot Rose a glare and sneered, “Guess your son just likes picking up others‘ leftovers, huh?”
Rose gave a mocking snort. “Oh, running out of arguments so you start throwing personal attacks now? You jealous my son’s actually got the guts to chase after what he wants? Well, I’m not just cheering him on–I’m in the game too, fighting and snatching right alongside him.”
But just as she raised her hand, Rose suddenly fixed her with a steely look and taunted, “Come on, Roselyn, go ahead and hit me. If you’re really that bold, then tomorrow, who do you think will rule Riverdale–the Logans or the Hamiltons? Are you sure you want to bet on that?”
Sering Roselyn shaking with rage. Rose suurked and threw in another dig. “Think your sons all that? Why don’t you send him off to be someone else’s side piece–let’s see if he’d actually go for ”

At the hospital…
After Troy fed Teresa, he stayed right there, watching over her as she got her IV drip.
Teresa had already nodded off when Troy’s phone lit up with a WhatsApp message from his mom.
“I’ve finished the job. Waiting for my reward!” Rose messaged.
“Awesome job, Mom!” Troy replied.
“How’s my future daughter–in–law doing?” Rose messaged.
Troy glanced at Teresa lying in bed, then replied, “She’s recovering well.”
“How’s the romance going, then? Is she just your mistress, or have you two actually slept together?” messaged Rose.
Troy saw his mom’s message and let out a low chuckle, then typed back, “Yeah, we’ve slept together. But hey, I’m not forcing her–it’s illegal, remember?”
“Man, this is tough. The road to wifing her up is really gonna be a long one for you,” Rose messaged, teasing.
“Don’t worry, Mom. She’s timid, so I’ve gotta take my time and play the long game,” Troy replied.
“Hope you ‘score‘ soon,” Rose sent back.
Rose even made sure to put ‘score‘ in quotation marks.
Troy saw the message and cracked up even harder at his mom’s cheeky emphasis.
Teresa was a light sleeper, so when Troy let out a quiet chuckle, she was already awake.
As she opened her eyes, she saw him smiling, looking so genuinely happy.
She couldn’t help but guess to herself, ‘I bet it’s a message from Naomi.’
