Chapter 250
With that, Charles walked into the main hall.
He went to the kitchen, warmed up a cup of milk, and carried it upstairs.
Serena stood outside in the biting wind of early winter, but honestly, it was her heart that felt frozen.
She’d already stood up for Teresa, putting so much on the line for her, yet to her surprise, Charles just wouldn’t budge at all.
Once upstairs, Charles walked into Yolanda’s room.

Yolanda was lying on her bed, engrossed in a game on her tablet. When she heard Charles‘ footsteps, she looked up and asked, “Dad, are you gonna sleep with me tonight?”
Charles thought for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, but before I agree, you need to answer a question for me first.”
Yolanda looked a little confused but said, “Okay, go ahead.”
Charles handed Yolanda the warm milk.
At the same time, he asked, “Who taught you to say those things about Aunt Teresa at dinner?”
Yolanda hesitated for a split second, then said firmly, “Mom taught me.”
Charles stared into her eyes and asked again, “Really not lying to me?”
Yolanda nodded, “Not at all.”
Hearing this, Charles finally relaxed.
After watching Yolanda finish her milk, he said, “Alright, time for bed.”
Yolanda licked her lips, glancing up at Charles as she asked, “Dad, where’s Miss Naomi?”
Charles answered, “Miss Naomi’s busy with her experiments. She won’t be coming back for a couple of days.”
When Yolanda heard that, she felt a little disappointed–but strangely, there was a bit of happiness in her heart too.
When the teacher tried contacting home, they called Charles first, but he didn’t answer. Then they tried Naomi, but she didn’t pick up
either.
At first, Yolanda thought maybe nobody wanted her anymore.
But as soon as she found out the truth, all the gloom from her day vanished. She even whispered to herself, “So that’s why Miss Naomi didnt answer the school’s call.”
Charles caught the change in her mood and said, “Hey, since I have to head out super early tomorrow, Grandma Ava will take you to kindergarten, okay?”
Yolanda instantly pushed back. “No, I wanna stay home with Mr. Richard.”
She didn’t want to go to kindergarten, plus Grandma Ava had pinched her–and even stapped her–before.
Charles picked up on Yolanda’s unhappy mood and dropped his voice, asking gently, “Is it that you don’t really want to go to school?”
Yolanda shook her head, a little grin appearing. “No way, my classmates all like me”
He let out a small breath. “Alright, that’s what I wanted to hear.”
As he spoke, he reached out to softly ruffle Yolanda’s hair.
After tucking Yolanda in, Charles stood up and left the room
Yolanda burrowed under her blanket, silently letting her tears fall
The kids at school didn’t like her–not only did they refuse to play with her, they actually disliked her.

Chapter 250
That’s why Yolanda really didn’t want to go to kindergarten. Honestly, she kind of hated it.

Meanwhile, Teresa, after finishing dinner, was indulging in a foot bath right there in the living room.
Just
as she was enjoying her soak, the notification sound from WhatsApp chimed on her phone.
Wed it might be something from work, Teresa grabbed her phone to take a look.
But to her surprise, the message was actually from Charles.
Charles: “Don’t go saying random stuff around Yolanda.”
Teresa, confused, just sent back a question mark, thinking to herself, ‘What is he even talking about?‘
Charles: “No point in saying more. You know perfectly well.”
Just as Theodore was about to walk out. Troy hurriedly called. “Brother, make sure to shut the door for us okay?”

But to her shock, Theodore really did close the door behind him as he left.
In that moment, Teresa was left completely dumbfounded–her mind was an absolute mess.

As soon as the door shut, Troy spun her around and gripped her shoulders, practically bursting with excitement. “Teresa, did you catch that? Your brother finally accepts me! He told me to use the front door from now on. I can actually come over and see you out in the open now–no more sneaking around!”
Troy was grinning from ear to ear, as happy as a little kid who just got his favorite toy.
Teresa just stood there, lost and all muddled up.
But the next second, Troy leaned in close, his voice soft and playful by her ear. “Teresa, your brother’s finally cool with me. What about you–when are you gonna accept me?”
Teresa was still spacing out, her mind swirling, but when she finally answered, her face turned frosty. “Troy, you really shouldn’t come over anymore.”
Before Teresa could get another word out, Troy swept her up and twirled her around in circles, yelling at the top of his lungs, “Woohoo! I can finally come in through the front door!”
And as for Teresa’s cold rejection, Troy was so giddy he acted like he hadn’t heard a single word–totally unfazed.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom next door…
Theodore walked in just as Yvonne was applying her skincare products.
Yvonne turned to look at him, a puzzled expression on her face. “What’s going on today? Did the sun rise in the west or something?”
Theodore kept a stony expression as he walked up behind Yvonne and gave her shoulders a casual squeeze. “It’s nothing.”
Yvonne looked at him through the vanity mirror with a small smile. “Wait, does this mean you’ve finally accepted Troy?”
Theodore’s hands moved gently over her shoulders, but his face stayed cold.
He looked at Yvonne in the mirror and said, “Hector’s a solid choice, but if it’s about pushing back against Charles, only Troy’s background is enough to hold his ground. Still, Troy might be fine for dating, but when it comes to marriage, Hector would definitely be my first pick.”
Yvonne let out a little laugh, teasing, “Wow, since when did you get so considerate?”
Theodore mused out loud–a rare sentimental moment for him-“You ever wonder why women can’t just have two men?”
Yvonne grinned, joking right back, “If only we could, right?”
Seeing how Yvonne almost sounded dead serious, Theodore grabbed her and pulled her into his arms, declaring with a cocky grin, “Nice try. But you? You’re stuck with just me–no other man allowed.”
