When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 249

Chapter 249

Teresa got what Troy meant, so she just kept quiet.

Since Troy insisted, Teresa finally agreed to let him drive her home.

After dropping Teresa off at the Sullivan Mansion, Troy drove away.

When Teresa got home, Theodore and the rest of the Sullivan family weren’t home. Just the house staff were bustling about the

mansion.

After heading to her bedroom, Teresa took a hot bath and then lay down to catch up on some sleep.

Once she was done, Teresa climbed into bed, ready to make up for all the sleep she’d missed.

When she woke up, a maid knocked on her door and said, “Ms. Sullivan, we have visitors.”

Teresa was still a little dazed but responded, “Alright, got it.”

After a quick freshen–up, Teresa headed downstairs.

She figured it must be some relatives from the Sullivan family stopping by, but to her surprise, it was Serena Logan.

Teresa hadn’t seen Serena in ages.

As soon as she heard footsteps coming down the stairs, Serena Logan jumped up from the couch, a hint of nervousness in her eyes, and greeted Teresa, “Yvonne.”

The moment Teresa saw the smile on Serena’s face, Andrew’s words instantly popped into her mind.

But thinking about it, Serena looked so happy–it was obvious she’d already made a full recovery.

As that thought crossed her mind, Teresa smiled and asked, “Serena, what brings you here?”

The Logan family almost never showed up at the Sullivan Mansion. Some of them had never even dropped by once.

Nobody from the Logan family had been around the Sullivan Mansion for ages.

Serena walked over to Teresa, gently took her hand, and said, “Yvonne, Grandpa asked me to come pick you up. He wants you to join us for dinner at Joyacre Villa.”

Her smile vanished, replaced by a hint of frost in her eyes. Teresa answered, “No, I’ve got things to handle today. I won’t be coming.”

Serena looked confused, her brows knitting together. “Yvonne, Grandpa sent me all the way here just for you.”

Teresa knew Serena was in the dark about what was really going on, and she wasn’t about to spell it out. She just replied calmly, “Not today, I’m not feeling well, so I’m staying in.”

That day, Teresa had collapsed right in front of Richard.

She was pretty sure Richard already knew about her losing the baby.

Still, even after all that time she spent in the hospital, her grandfather hadn’t come to see her once.

He used to fuss over her all the time, but ever since that happened, it was like she didn’t even exist to him anymore.

Teresa could guess the reason well enough.

No matter how much Richard cared for her, at the end of the day, he was still a Logan.

Teresa knew that better than anyone

Serena, clueless to the real reason, kept coaxing her, “Come on, please? Just treat it as my little celebration!”

Teresa understood what Serena was getting at, but she stuck to her guns “Serena. I truly am happy to see you healthy and standing here. but as for dinner, let’s drop it–I won’t be coming”

Hearing Teresa’s unwavering tone, Serena realized there was no convincing her. She could only give up and murmur, “Alright then.”

That night, when Serena got back to Joyacre Villa, Sharon had already set the table with a feast.

Richard was sitting in the living room, and when he heard the car horn, he instinctively straightened his back, adopting his usual dignified air.

But after Serena walked in, no one else followed.

Seeing this, Richard’s smile faltered for a moment, and then he asked Serena, “Where’s Teresa? Why didn’t she come back with you?”

Serena didn’t hide anything. She just said honestly, “Yvonne didn’t seem happy, so I didn’t push her.”

Richard’s face darkened. “She’s really got the nerve to act all upset?”

Catching all the irritation in Richard’s voice, Serena couldn’t help but ask, “What’s bothering you?”

She was in pink pajamas, her hair draped down her back, and when she smiled, those adorable dimples showed at her lips.

Serena frowned in concern and looked at Yolanda, “Yolanda, what’s wrong?

her heart–it made her feel awful.

The whole meal ended up tense and uncomfortable for everyone.

After dinner, Yolanda headed upstairs.

Once Yolanda was out of sight, Serena turned to Charles and said, “Charles, come with me. I need to talk to you.”

With that, Serena walked out of the living room.

Charles thought about it for a second, then followed her.

Once they stepped outside, Serena turned around and looked straight at Charles. “Charles, do you really believe what Yolanda said? Who do you think told her to say stuff like that?”

Charles kept his expression frosty. “Yolanda said Teresa was the one who told her.”

Serena jumped in, her voice rising with urgency. “Charles, Teresa isn’t like that–she would never do such a thing!”

Charles smirked, his tone edged with irony. “You think you know her so well, huh?”

-Serena shot back, not backing down in the slightest. “No matter what you say, Teresa would never do that.”

After a long pause, Charles’s voice went low and rough. “Then who do you think told her? Me? Mom? Dad? Or Grandpa?”

Serena argued, “What if one of the maids was talking behind our backs and Yolanda happened to overhear?”

Charles replied firmly, “We’ve never said anything about you in front of the servants.”

Serena was desperate to stand up for Teresa, but Charles shot down every word–he just wouldn’t let it go.

At that moment, Serena just felt worn out.

She didn’t want to say anything else. She simply said, “Anyway, I still believe in Teresa.”

Charles shrugged, “Believe whatever you want.”
