Chapter 255
Troy held Teresa tightly, letting her cry it out in his arms.

He let her lean against his chest, his chin lightly touching the top of her head. His gaze and the ache in his heart were all for her.
He didn’t ask what had happened. Just being there for her was the greatest comfort he could give.
After Teresa finished crying, she felt a little better.
Thinking of Wendy, Teresa finally lifted her head from Troy’s arms and looked up at him. “Wendy is missing.”
Troy met her gaze, his voice gentle. “Yeah, I know. But Leo’s already out there looking for her.”
Teresa blinked in surprise. “Mr. Gilbert?”
Troy kept holding Teresa close, not showing any intention of putting her down. Honestly, Teresa seemed to have completely forgotten she was still in his arms.
Troy nodded. “Yeah, the one who wanted to meet up with Wendy? That’s Leo.”
Teresa frowned, a little confused. “Why though?”
Troy gave a low chuckle. “Well, what else? It’s all for love.”
Teresa mulled it over. She didn’t know Leo was into Wendy, or when he started crushing on her.
But if Troy said so, she figured there had to be something to it.
After thinking about it, she just gave a little nod. “Mm.”
Realizing she was still in Troy’s arms, Teresa gently eased herself out of his embrace.
Once she was steady on her feet, she turned to Troy. “I want to go find Wendy.”
He wasn’t mad at all; instead, he just smiled softly and, when she wasn’t looking, slipped his hand into hers.
He led her toward his car. “Come on, let’s go meet up with Leo. I think he might have already found Wendy.”
Troy opened the door for Teresa, motioning for her to take the passenger seat.
Teresa looked back at the car that had crashed into the little house. The front was completely wrecked, with random stuff and dust all
over it.
She lingered for a moment, a bit unwilling to let go. “The car…”
Troy helped her into the seat and buckled her in, then straightened up with a smile. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll buy you a new one next
time.”
Teresa wasn’t actually counting on Troy to buy her a new car. Right now, all she cared about was finding Wendy and making sure nothing bad had happened to her.
She just let it go, focusing on what mattered instead.
Once they were both in the car, Troy called Leo again.
The car was quiet, and Teresa could hear Leo’s voice on the line–hoarse and low.
He didn’t sound right at all.
Teresa’s heart leapt into her throat.
Troy sensed something was off too and didn’t ask anything else “Where are you now?”
Leo replied, “At Wendy’s place

The whole drive over, Teresa was on edge.
When they got to Wendy’s apartment complex, Teresa practically ran into the elevator.
Troy stayed close behind her, worried she might trip.

When they reached the tenth floor, Teresa bolted out of the elevator and saw Wendy’s door wide open, with Leo standing right there.
From inside, she could faintly hear Wendy’s sobs.
Teresa’s heart sank, and she hurried over.
Leo nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I know”

Troy turned to Leo again. “Where’s George Ford?”
“He bolted as soon as I showed up,” Leo replied.
Troy thought for a moment, then said, “He can’t escape.”
They waited outside for about half an hour before Teresa finally came out of the room.
When she stepped out, her expression was downcast and unfocused, and fresh blood was still oozing from her shoulder.

Troy hurried over the moment he saw her. He wanted to ask about her shoulder, but after thinking it over, he decided to hold back.
Of course, it was obvious–Wendy had bitten her.
If it had been anyone else, Troy would’ve been furious, but right now, Wendy’s well–being was the priority.
Leo also looked at Teresa, his voice full of concern. “Teresa, is Wendy doing any better?”
Teresa looked up at Leo, wanting so badly to ask why he had reached out to Wendy in such a risky way, but the words just wouldn’t
come out.
She thought, ‘How could any of this be Leo’s fault?
“The real one to blame is George.
‘Yeah, it’s him. George.
After wrestling with a storm of emotions, Teresa finally found her voice and said to Troy and Leo, “Stay with her for a bit, okay? I need to step out, but I’ll be back soon.”
On the surface, her expression was composed and serene–there wasn’t a single hint of what she truly felt inside.
Troy hesitated, clearly worried. “Where are you going?”
Teresa answered, “Wendy said she wanted some trotter stew. I’m going out to get it for her.”
