Troy was driving, with Teresa and Rose sitting in the back. The whole ride, Rose wouldn’t stop talking to Teresa.
She asked about what Teresa liked to eat, whether she preferred dresses or pants, her favorite color, if there was something she wanted, and even where Teresa liked to hang out.
Rose had a million questions for her. Teresa’s mind was clearly on Wendy, and you could tell she was anxious, but she still responded to Rose’s endless curiosity.
Soon, the car stopped outside Wendy Stone’s apartment building.
They all tiptoed up the stairs, extra quiet so as not to disturb Wendy Stone.
Peyton was still on the couch. When he heard the door, he turned around. Seeing Rose, he stood up and quietly greeted her, “Mrs. Hamilton, you’re here too.”
Rose smiled at Peyton. “Yeah, I came to help my daughter–in–law sort out her problems.”
Peyton nodded, gave a small smile, and stepped aside.
Leo was standing by Wendy Stone’s bedroom door. When he saw everyone return, he slowly walked over. “Mrs. Hamilton.”
Rose saw the worry all over Leo’s face. She gave him a warm smile and said gently, “It’s alright, don’t worry. Let me go in and check on
her.”
That made Leo’s eyes go red. He murmured, “Thank you, Mrs. Hamilton.”
Before going into the bedroom, Rose glanced back at Teresa and said softly, “Come with me, Teresa.
Teresa didn’t hesitate. She just nodded and replied, “Okay.”
With that, she gently took Rose’s arm, and together they made their way into Wendy’s bedroom.
The room was dim, only a small lamp casting a faint glow. Wendy was curled up under the covers, perfectly still.
You really couldn’t tell if she was actually asleep, or just faking it.
But the moment Rose stepped inside, she switched on the big overhead light, and suddenly the whole room was awash in brightness. As soon as the harsh light filled the room, Wendy instinctively pulled the covers up over herself, trying to shield herself from it. But Rose strode right over and yanked the blanket away.
Bathed in the bright light again, Wendy threw an arm over her face, her whole body trembling as an agonized whimper escaped her lips.
Teresa looked worried, but seeing how furious Rose was, she kept silent.
Rose stood by the bed, her voice sharp with anger as she demanded, “Are you really going to lock yourself away in this room forever? Live in the shadows your whole life? Just let the people who hurt you walk away free?”
Wendy sobbed, her voice breaking as she shouted, “Get out! Just get out!”
She felt like nobody could ever understand the pain and misery eating her up inside.
People kept saying she wanted to go easy on George, but it’s not like she didn’t want to see him pay for everything he’d done.
But George was still holding those videos over her head. If he ever leaked them, her career–and her whole life–would be totally destroyed.
Wendy might not be a superstar, but as a semi–public figure, videos like that would set off a chain reaction for sure.
Seeing that Wendy wasn’t listening to a word she said, Rose leaned in and firmly yanked Wemly shards away from her face.
Wendy jerked and tried to pull away fighting back desperately, but Rose was too sting–she coulut escape her grip?

Just like that, Wendy’s face was laid bare under the harsh glare. She squinted against the light, her eyes stinging as tears slipped from the
corners.
Wendy choked out a sob, her voice trembling with despair. “I’d be better off dead. At least then, all this pain would finally end.”
Rose cupped Wendy’s face, her tone low and steady. “Listen here, honey. Look at me–really look. Hear every single word I’m saying.”
With those words, Rose straightened up.
Teresa’s heart ached for Wendy, but deep down, she couldn’t deny that Rose was right–even if it hurt to admit.
ly in the bright light, not even a hint of shame. She met Wendy’s red–rimmed eyes and spoke clearly, “See? When it comes down to it, we women are all made the same. Strip off the clothes, and there’s really no difference. It’s just a body–a shell. You have it, I have it, she has it, they all have it. Are you really going to let that pathetic bastard use your own shame as a weapon against you? Are you really going to just give in?”
“No, you can’t fold. Every woman has been through something, you have, I have, Teresa too. It happens. Every adult has moments like that–seriously, who hasn’t? Even if he sends those videos out for the whole world to see, so what? He should be the embarrassed one, not you. The only one who should feel disgusting is him, not you.
“When trash like that tries to corner us, we can’t let fear run our lives and we sure as hell don’t back down. The more he threatens, the harder we push back. Whatever happens, you make sure he knows–you are not some pushover he can mess with whenever he wants.”
If Wendy could just get past the toughest part—her own fears–everything else would be so much easier to handle.
Ruse softly patted Teresa’s hand, her voice gentle and caring Sweetheart

Teresa nodded, then glanced over at Wendy, who was lying on the bed.
Wendy was looking right back at her.
As their eyes met, the two of them exchanged a little knowing smile.
Once Rose was dressed again, she turned to Teresa. “Come on, let’s step outside. Give Miss Stone some time to collect herself.”
As Teresa and Rose walked out of the bedroom, the guys came over right away.
Troy’s gaze lingered on Teresa’s face. When he saw she wasn’t tense anymore, he finally breathed a little easier.
Rose noticed Troy finally relax and smiled. “It’s all sorted now. Mind taking me home?”
Troy didn’t even hesitate. “Of course.”
Teresa stood frozen for a second, taking Troy in with a look of surprised realization.
Sure, Rose was the one everyone saw in action–but as Teresa thought about it now, none of this would’ve turned out so smoothly if
nietly behind the scenes. Troy hadn’t been working quietly
Ever since he’d suggested visiting p
Rose at the hospital, he must’ve already been pulling the strings, setting the whole plan into motion.
