When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64

After leaving the hall, Teresa stood by the roadside, waiting for a cab. Perhaps because a crowd had just exited, it was nearly impossible to get one.

She waited for several minutes, but still no cab showed up. Teresa started to feel a bit anxious. She opened her phone several times but didn’t know who to call.

Just as she was starting to feel flustered, Charles’s voice suddenly called out from behind her, “Teresa.” His tone was distant and cold.

Teresa turned around and saw Charles with Naomi. Naomi was holding onto Charles’s arm, and the two of them looked more than just a perfect match–no words could really capture it.

Naomi looked at Teresa with a subtle, probing curiosity, while Charles said to Teresa, “We’re heading back. Why don’t you come with us?

Teresa glanced at the empty street again. She was really worried about Yolanda, so she reluctantly agreed, “Okay.”

At the same time, Charles’s driver pulled the car up to the curb.

There were three of them, and it would be a bit awkward for Teresa to sit in the back with them. After a moment’s hesitation, she walked around to the car and opened the front passenger door.

Charles opened the back door, but as he straightened up, he noticed Teresa was already in the front. His smile faltered for a moment. But soon, he smiled again and turned to Naomi. “Get in.”

Naomi’s dress was long, and when she got in, part of the hem trailed outside. Charles quickly bent down and tucked it into the car, before sliding in beside her.

Teresa sat up front, turning her head to stare out the window at the passing scenery. She didn’t want to spare even a glance for the two in the back.

But, as always, things didn’t go the way she wanted. She heard Naomi in the back seat, her voice soft and a little whiny as she said to Charles, “Charles, my head doesn’t feel so good.”

Through the rearview mirror, Teresa saw Charles lean closer to Naomi. He reached out to feel Naomi’s forehead, then touched his own, before saying, You don’t have a fever. Maybe you’re just tired from tonight. Let me rub your head for you.”

Naomi smiled and nodded, her voice gentle. “Alright, thank you, Charles.

Charles smiled, then had Naomi sit with her back to him. He lifted his hands and started massaging her head.

Teresa, sitting up front, watched it all in the rearview mirror. She had gotten so used to Charles being sweet to Naomi that it no longer bothered her–she was numb to it by now.

Charles would do things for Naomi that he never did for her. To him, Naomi was probably even more important than he was to himself.

Just thinking about it still stung. Teresa’s eyes grew red, but she didn’t want anyone to notice her weakness. So, she buried herself in her phone, pretending everything was fine.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Troy, [Honey, I’ve already mailed the bracelet to you. If you don’t want it, just toss it]

Teresa’s heart grew heavy as she read the message.

Troy was convinced that she wouldn’t easily throw away something worth a hundred million. If she didn’t throw it away, she’d have no choice but to accept it. But if she accepted it, there’d be no way to return it to him.

With Troy, once he gave something, it was impossible to take it back.

Whether his words were sincere or just a game. Teresa didn’t want to be indebted to him. The deeper the debt, the more complicated the entanglement.

Before she realized it, the car had stopped at the entrance of Joyacre Villa Teresa quickly got out and rushed into the villa

Charles, meandule, walked around to Naomi’s side of the car, opened the door, and ofered her his hand. Naumi, still in difficulty moving to Charles offered her his arm to hold

He was so focused on looking after Naomi that he didn’t even think about the fact that Teresa was also wearing a gown.

When Teresa reached the living room, she saw Yolanda squatting in front of the coffee table, playing with her toys. At the sound of heels clicking, Yolanda turned her head. “Naomi, you’re back—”

Yolanda looked puzzled. “Then why are you all dressed up like this?

Yolanda was still a little curious, but didn’t ask any more questions. She hugged Teresa tightly, her heart swelling with pride.

‘So my mom can be this beautiful too. She’s just as pretty as Naomi, if not more so,‘ Yolanda thought.

After taking a moment to gather her emotions, Teresa crouched down and took Yolanda’s cold hand. “Are you feeling any better now?

Teresa patted her head gently. If you’re still not feeling well, you should go to bed early. Why are you just sitting here?

Yolanda didn’t know how to answer. She couldn’t exactly tell her mom she was waiting for Naomi.

Seeing that Yolanda stayed quiet, Teresa continued, “Do you want me to go upstairs with you and tuck you in?

Just as Yolanda was about to answer, Charles’s voice suddenly rang out from the doorway. “Yolanda, listen to your mom.”

The commanding tone in his voice made Yolanda drop her defiance. She sighed, “Okay.”

Teresa realized Yolanda had been waiting for Naomi in the living room, but it didn’t matter anymore. Taking Yolanda’s hand, Teresa led her upstairs. As they walked, she asked, “Did you wash up yet, Yolanda?

Yolanda shook her head. “Not yet.” She sounded pretty down, obviously not in a good mood.

Teresa pretended not to notice her daughter’s mood and continued, “How about Mommy helps you wash up?”

Yolanda replied softly, “Alright.”

When they got to Yolanda’s room, Teresa started looking for pajamas in the closet, but stopped in her tracks when she opened the door

Yolanda noticed and looked over, seeing several sets of Naomi’s pajamas hanging there. “Mom, when you’re not here. Naomi gets worried I’ll have nightmares, so sometimes she sleeps with me,Yolanda said quickly, a little anxious

Teresa stared at the several sets of Naomi’s pajamas in the closet. It was clear that Naomi often stayed here. She knew Yolanda was lying -her daughter was covering for Naomi

Teresa’s heart ached painfully, but she held it in. She gripped the closet door handle to stealy herself

At that moment Yolanda walked up to her and asked. “Mom, are you staying over tonight)
