Chapter 63
Teresa stood at the back of the crowd, peeking through the gaps, and saw Charles standing beside the stage.
Although she wasn’t sure what he was doing, just the fact that he was standing there with Naomi made it clear–she could tell Naomi really meant the world to him.
As the piano reached its climax, the murmurs in the crowd shifted into praise.
“Mr. Logan really has great taste. Not only is Miss Yolanda beautiful, but she plays the piano so beautifully. If I were a man, I’d fall for her too,” someone remarked.
“As if playing the piano so well wasn’t enough, she’s got such a great figure. She’s perfect,” another person added.
Teresa could only smile at these comments. Everyone was praising Naomi, but they didn’t realize she was the one tearing apart Teresa and Charles’s marriage.
That stunning appearance might fool people, but behind it, Naomi’s
art was anything but kind.
Troy also found the comments absurd. Teresa was Charles’s wife, yet all anyone seemed to care about was Naomi.
Feeling frustrated, Teresa turned to leave, but Troy stepped forward and blocked her path. She tilted her face up to look at Troy, her brows knitted together. “You want to see me make a fool of myself too?”
Troy just smiled, not bothering to answer her question. Instead, he caught hold of her slender arm, his smile deepening as he looked at her. “It’d be a shame not to dance to such beautiful music.”
Before Teresa could react, Troy slipped an arm around her waist, gently but firmly pulling her closer. He leaned in and whispered, “Put your hand on my shoulder.”
Somehow, Teresa obeyed. She placed her hand on his shoulder, and under his lead, they began to dance together, moving in time with
the music.
The Sullivan Family was far from ordinary. Teresa had attended plenty of social gatherings with her brother, and she’d been able to dance ballroom since her early teens.
But this was the first time she found herself dancing in front of so many people–and with someone as influential as Troy.
With Troy taking the lead, plenty of other men started asking the women nearby to join them.
Gradually, more people joined the dance floor. And then the whispers began again.
“Isn’t that Troy? Looks like he’s switched dates again,” someone said.
“Yeah, he’s notorious for being a ladies‘ man. He brings a different woman to every party. He’s probably brought hundreds of women to parties over the years,” another person chimed in.
*True, but this one looks pretty stunning,” someone else commented.
“Has he ever brought someone who wasn’t stunning? I doubt Mr. Hamilton would settle for anything less than perfect.
“Honestly, those two really do look like a perfect match, someone remarked.
“Mr. Hamilton seems like he’s eager to get his hands under that girl’s dress,” another person chuckled.
The gossip eventually reached Charles‘ ears. For some reason, whenever Troy’s name came up. Teresa came to mind. He couldn’t help but wonder if the person they were talking about was Teresa.
Curious, Charles turned his head to look. In the lounge area not far away, several couples were dancing, but his gaze instantly found Teresa and Truy.
As the piano music played, they spun, dipped, and drew close, moving together as if they’d been dancing for years. The dance was mesmerizing, and they were both absolutely stunning
It was the first time that night Charles really took a good look at Teresa. She was wearing an eye catching red gown–boil, yet softened by her gentle appearance. It made her stand out without being too flashy.

The Teresa he remembered–always with milk stains on her clothes and messy hair–actually had this side to her too.
Without realizing it. Charles stood there, silent. There was something stuck in his chest—a feeling he couldn’t quite name.
A few minutes later, the piano music stopped, and thunderous applause filled the hall.
Teresa and Troy were hanging out by the buffet, grabbing some snacks and sipping red wine. Every so often, a few business contacts would swing by to toast with them.
It was pretty much the same story for Charles on his side of the room.
As the night drew to a close, the organizers announced it was time for the final round of photos. Only VIPs were invited, and both Charles and Troy were included.
When it was time for the group photo, Troy and Teresa were placed in the center–not because of their status, but simply because Troy had spent the most that evening. Right beside them were Charles and Naomi.
Troy, who had been standing in the center, gave up his spot for Teresa, and Charles stood right next to her. It was the first time they had been this close–so close their hands almost touched.
Charles caught a faint whiff of the fresh scent of Teresa’s body wash. It was so clean and refreshing that he found himself oddly drawn to it.
But soon, the photo session ended, and many guests began to leave.
Teresa, too, was ready to go. But Troy stepped in front of her and said, “Sweetheart, let me give you a ride home.” He had that usual playful charm, making it hard to tell if he was being sincere or just teasing.
Before Teresa could respond, Charles stepped forward. ‘Sharon just called. Yolanda’s caught a cold and keeps asking for you.”
Hearing that, Teresa grew anxious. “Okay, I’ll head back right away,” she said, her voice tinged with worry.
After agreeing, she turned to Troy and said, “Mr. Hamilton, I need to go check on my daughter, so I’ll head back first.” After bidding him goodbye, Teresa lifted her dress and walked out of the hall.
Troy quickly caught up to her. “Sweetheart, let me give you a ride. And I still haven’t given you that bracelet.”
Teresa stopped and turned to him seriously. “It’s too valuable. I really can’t accept it”
Troy, 100, looked serious. “I bought that bracelet at auction just for you. If you don’t take it, then its existence loses all meaning” Teresa shook her head gently but firmly. Troy, you should give it to someone it truly belongs to. It’s the tairest thing the bracelet

Troy’s words were genuine, she felt it was best to be clear about her intentions.
Not far away, Charles stood off to the side, keeping quiet. He wasn’t looking at Teresa, but he was totally tuned in to every word she exchanged with Troy.
Naomi, who was by his side, noticed the change in Charles’s mood. She realized that, contrary to his outward indifference, Charles did care about Teresa after all.
Teresa, having politely declined Troy’s offer, walked out of the hall. Yolanda was sick, and as her mother, Teresa couldn’t relax.
Even though Yolanda often disappointed her, Teresa’s only wish was for her daughter to be healthy and safe.
