When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 70

hapter 70

Teresa was worried something might happen to Andrew. If anything really went wrong, Roselyn would just blame her for it. Just the thought of it made her feel exasperated.

But whatever, finding Andrew was more important right now.

As soon as they walked into the bar, the music was so loud it felt like it could blow out their eardrums. On the dance floor, people moved their bodies in sync with the beat of the music.

Charles led the way, shielding Teresa from all the prying eyes around them. She just kept her gaze on her feet, following close behind.

When they reached the private room area, they found long corridors stretching out on both sides, each lined with private rooms. Honestly, Charles had no clue which room Andrew could be in.

After a long silence, Teresa finally spoke up. “How about we split up and search each side?”

Charles thought it was a good idea. “Alright. If anything happens, just shout. I’ll come running.”

Teresa looked at him but didn’t say anything. A few seconds later, she turned and headed down the right corridor.

As soon as she entered, she heard various crude insults and moans. She tried to ignore the noise, knocking on each door.

When one of the doors opened, someone eyed Teresa up, stroking his chin as he asked, “Who sent you over? How about joining me for a drink?

Some people just snapped at her. “Who are you? We don’t need any salespeople here. Are you crazy?”

After knocking on nearly every door, Teresa thought to herself that Andrew probably wasn’t in this area.

But just then, a loud crash came from the room at the end of the corridor, followed by the sound of someone shouting, “Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you talk to me like that!”

There was no doubt about it–it was Andrew’s voice.

Another voice shot back, “You mess with my girl, and I’ll make you pay for it!”

It sounded like things were about to get physical. Worried that things might escalate, Teresa hurried toward the room where the noise was coming from.

When she kicked the door open, everyone inside turned to look at her. The ones who were about to fight stopped in their tracks.

Teresa saw Andrew rolling up his sleeves, while the man next to him was reaching into his pocket for something. She had no idea what he was looking for, but it didn’t seem like anything good.

There weren’t many people in the room–Andrew was by himself, while the other group had three guys and a girl. If a fight really broke out, Andrew would be seriously outnumbered.

Teresa tried to keep her cool, shooting Andrew a look and calling out in a low voice, Andrew, get over here.”

When Andrew saw her, his already foul mood exploded. “You think I’ll just come because you said so? Who do you think you are to boss me around?

Teresa glared at him, her face icy. “Your brother is here too.” She hoped Charles‘ presence would help calm Andrew down.

The guys who had been arguing with Andrew looked confused at Teresa. When they saw Andrew ignoring her, their eyes turned mocking and challenging.

Teresa ignored their attitude and glanced at the girl sobbing in the corner.

From their conversation, it was clear Andrew had started the whole thing. Wanting to prevent things from getting worse, she stepped forward, grabbed a bottle of beer, and said. They everyone, I’m Teresa Sullivan, Andrew’s sister–in–law.

“He’s young and hot headed, and he did something wrong to this girl. I’m here to apologize on his behalf. This beer is my way of making it rightTM

With that, she raised the bottle to her lips, ready to drink, but Andrew sneered, “What’s the point of all this Nagini is the one uy

brother likes.”

With just Teresa and Andrew left in the room, Andrew, in his fury, knocked bottles and cans off the table, the noise making Teresa wince and close her eyes.

Meanwhile, Andrew shouted, “Teresa, do you even know your place? Who the hell are you to boss me around? You’re just a tool for our Family–worth less than a maid. If anyone’s gonna boss me around, it’s Naomi, not you. Just get lost.”

Teresa listened to him and couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. She walked up to him and, without saying a word, slapped him hard across the face.

Andrew, listen up,” she said coldly. “I’ve given a lot to the Logan family. You don’t have to thank me, but if you’re just going to spew venom, forget it.

If I wasn’t worried about you ending up dead out there, I wouldn’t even spare you a second glance.”

She turned to leave, but Andrew, enraged, grabbed her hand. “You dare hit me? You’ve got a death wish!

But the pain never came. Instead, she felt a rush of air as Andrew’s hand was stopped mid–swing. Opening her eyes, she saw Charles gripping Andrew’s wrist.

Andrew, seeing his brother, immediately shouted, “Charles, teach Teresa a lesson! She hit me. Even Mom and Dad never did that, and she thinks she can just slap me. Do something!”

Teresa figured that since they were brothers, Charles would probably side with Andrew, but Charles spoke up, She’s your sister–in–law. She has every right to put you in your place. No matter why she hit you, you just have to take it.”

Andrew froze. “Charles, I’m your brother. How can you take the side of an outsider?

Teresa was just as shocked. But then she realized that Charles wasn’t defending her because he saw her as his wife.

He was just covering for her since they were staying at Logan Manor If she ended up hurt, both of them would face consequences from Richard

Charles ignored Andrew’s anger and said in a low, commanding voice, Go home.”

Andrew didn’t dare talk back to Charles, so he just swallowed his frustration

The three of them left the bar together. Teresa sat in the front passenger seat, Andrew sulked in the back, and Charles drove. No one spoke a word, and the tension in the car was suffocating.

Andrew was fuming, his gaze fixed on the back of Teresa’s head, his expression filled with anger

Even though Teresa understood why Charles had acted as he did, she couldn’t stop thinking about his words. She wondered if he uly saw her as his wife.

But then again, there didn’t seem to be much more than that between them.
