Chapter 94
Chapter 94
That night at the Sullivan Mansion, after Teresa and Monica got home, Monica hurried into the kitchen to reheat the egg pancakes she’d made that morning.
She brought them out and stood by, watching anxiously as Teresa tasted them.
THE O
The pancakes weren’t exactly delicious, but Teresa finished every bite, showering Monica with praise and casually pointing out a few things she could improve.

Monica took the advice to heart, promising she’d make them better next time.
After dinner, the whole family gathered together and shared some warm family talk.
When Teresa went upstairs to wash up and picked up her phone, she was shocked to see over a dozen missed calls, which were all from Charles.
She was still at a loss when her phone lit up again. Charles was calling once more.
Teresa’s gut told her he must have run into something urgent.
Without a second thought, she answered.
Before Teresa could get a word in, Charles’s voice blasted through the phone, snappy and urgent. “Teresa, what are you doing? Why haven’t you been answering my calls?”
His barrage of questions instantly annoyed Teresa, and she snapped back, “Charles, does what I’m doing have anything to do with you?”
Charles cut her off, not wanting to argue. “Yolanda is sick. You need to get over here right now and check on her.”
The moment Teresa heard Yolanda was sick, her heart lurched. She sprang up from the bed, not even caring that she was still in her pajamas, and strode straight out of her bedroom.
As she walked out, she asked, “What happened? Wasn’t she perfectly fine this afternoon?”
Charles calmed down, his tone much gentler now. “Sharon said Yolanda went upstairs after dinner, but she kept saying her stomach hurt, and before long, she threw up everything she’d eaten.”
Panic hit Teresa hard. She dashed downstairs.
It was already pretty late, and she didn’t want to bother anyone at home. So she grabbed her keys, slipped out alone, and headed straight for Joyacre Villa.
When she arrived at Joyacre Villa, she found Sharon clutching Yolanda tightly, anxiously pacing back and forth in the living room.
As soon as Sharon heard the door open, the worry in her eyes melted away. “Mrs. Logan, you’re finally here.”
When Sharon saw Teresa, tears welled up in her eyes. She nearly burst into tears.
The rain hadn’t let up yet, but at least it wasn’t pouring like it was this morning.
Teresa was so anxious that she dashed inside without even grabbing an umbrella, her pajamas left damp from the rain.
She dropped her keys, didn’t stop to take off her shoes, and rushed to Sharon, scooping Yolanda into her arms.
Yolanda was only lightly asleep, and when she saw Teresa walk in, she called out softly. “Mom.”
Teresa gently touched Yolanda’s forehead, relieved to find it wasn’t hot. ‘She’s not burning up, so it’s probably not a fever, Teresa thought
“Yolanda, can you tell me if anything else hurts? Teresa asked gently
Teresa was a pediatric surgeon. She was a total pro when it came to stuff like this.
Yolanda felt so weak and drained. She didn’t even have the strength to give Teresa the cold shoulder.
Whenever one was feeling vulnerable, all she wanted was someone she trusted to be there with her,

Chapter 94
For Yolanda, seeing Teresa right now was like a starving kid finally spotting a plate of food.
Yolanda snuggled into Teresa’s arms, her voice coming out all scratchy. “Mom, my stomach hurts and I feel all woozy.”
Teresa gently felt around Yolanda’s belly, asking her questions one by one.
After examining her, Teresa figured there was probably something wrong with her digestion.
She was a doctor, but without more tests, she couldn’t say for sure what was going on.
Without hesitating, Teresa picked Yolanda up in her arms. “Yolanda, I’m taking you to the hospital. We’ll
scan.”
When Yolanda heard they were going to the hospital, tears instantly filled her eyes. “Mom, I’m scared.”
Teresa gently stroked her face, soothing her softly. “Don’t be scared, Yolanda. I’m here. I won’t leave you.”

Yolanda looked pale, almost ghostly, so Teresa decided to keep her in the ER for a bit, waiting until she felt better before heading home.
Teresa got her some meds to help with digestion and some probiotics. Sharon brought over some warm water, and Teresa helped Yolanda take her medicine.
She’d thrown everything up in her stomach, so of course, she was hungry now.
Teresa gave her a soft smile. “Okay.”
After a night of rushing around, Teresa finally left the hospital. She realized she was still in her pajamas, her hair a mess. She looked completely disheveled and exhausted.
Teresa didn’t care how she looked. Her only concern was Yolanda’s empty stomach. So she pushed through the rain and finally made it to a 24–hour restaurant.
She left her umbrella by the door and walked in, only to run smack into Liam.
Liam frowned a little when he saw Teresa standing there in her pajamas and called out, “Mrs. Logan?”
Yolanda was sick. Even if he was swamped with work, Charles should’ve come back to Joyacre Villa
In an emergency like this, if he couldn’t reach me, shouldn’t he have rushed Yolanda to the hospital himself?‘ Teresa wondered.
She hadn’t had time to think about any of this before, but now, seeing Liam, all those questions suddenly popped into her head.
Teresa couldn’t help but ask, “Is Charles still working?”
Liam blinked in surprise. “Huh?”

Chapter 91
Teresa frowned. “Yolanda is sick. He said he had to work overtime for a meeting tonight. Is he still stuck in that meeting?”
It was past ten. He worked late sometimes, but almost never this late.
Liam didn’t even think twice before answering, “Mr. Logan wasn’t in a meeting. He left the office at three this afternoon.”
Teresa froze for a second. “What?”
Liam suddenly looked panicked. “I…”
Realizing he’d said something he shouldn’t have, Liam quickly looked away, avoiding her gaze.
Teresa was starting to piece things together, but she didn’t make a scene. She just gave him a calm look and said, “Got it. You can go back to work now.”
Liam was confused, wondering, ‘Wait, she got it? What did she get, though?”
But Teresa didn’t linger. She went straight to the counter, ordered a bowl of cereal, and asked for it to be packed to go.
Once she got her food, she walked out of the restaurant without saying another word to Liam.
Liam froze for a second, totally taken aback. He thought, ‘That isn’t Teresa’s style. Shouldn’t she be grilling me about where Charles
went?’
Liam couldn’t believe Teresa would just let it go. He rushed out after her, but by the time he got outside, she was already disappearing into the rain with her umbrella.
Watching her forlorn figure fade into the rainy night, Liam couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness.
Liam had witnessed with his own eyes how empty Charles and Teresa’s marriage had become.
For all these years, their relationship was just a hollow shell, not a single day of warmth or happiness between them.
Liam wondered if Teresa even knew anything about Charles and Naomi.
Liam didn’t let himself dwell on it. He grabbed his umbrella and just left.
