The Final Dance
RALI
Seventy hours.
That was how long we’d spent on the boat.
We were four hours away from docking, and how much I’d yearned for the moment.
I leaned against the counter, drinking from my third glass while letting the thump of bass–heavy music guide my eyes to the hired performers on the dance floor.
“Now that is some premium waist work. Imagine a man like that riding me. Ooh!” Lilian let out a breathy moan beside me, fanning herself with a hand.
I nearly snorted wine out of my nose.
Ava laughed and smacked her on the arm. “You came here with a partner, Lilian! Stop fantasizing over some hot male
performer.”
“Oh, please. If I wasn’t with Tavis for his overflowing bank account, I’d have ghosted him nineteen months and three overdrafts ago. I could tally up all the minutes he’s lasted on top of me and it wouldn’t be enough to make up one full episode
of Bridgerton.”
That did it. I choked, coughing into my glass and laughing uncontrollably. The wine felt like it took a wrong turn and
scorched its way up my nose.
“Lilian!” Ava’s eyes widened as she hit her again, this time looking around like someone might have heard.
Holy Smokes! What was wrong with her?
But she wasn’t even done. “You know what’s even more infuriating?” She tapped her nails against her glass. “It’s how he thinks himself the strongest man in the game. Especially when he struts in with words like, ‘hey, babe, get ready. I’m about to wreck those legs,‘ and I swear to God – he ends up wrecking my hope in one minute and thirty seconds.”
She finally turned to me. “Sorry, love. Are you okay now?”
I gave her the side–eye and wiped at my lips. “You’re a menace to decency, Lilian.”
She gave a shameless shrug which said guilty and proud.
The performance on the floor wound down and the event host stepped up with a mic to announce the final dance by couples.
My heart jumped into my throat when I found ‘him‘ approaching. Fuck, he couldn’t just ignore the dance?
“Now that,” Lilian whispered, “is a man who breaks beds for fun.”
When I looked at her, she had her eyes on Void who was still coming at us.
“I don’t even need to have a taste to know. His body says it all”
Well, that he was. And a murderer. Also a psychopath
Qh, Lilian If only you knew half of what he was, you’d tie your thighs shut and run the other way in heels.
He reached us and without a word, held his hand to me. I reluctantly took it, trying to ignore how good he looked in his black flannel pants and black crisp shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his wrists. He made it so easy to think he was good looking

Couples swayed all around us as he found a spot in the middle, then turned me to face him. He wrapped one hand around my waist while mine held onto his shoulders. We were so close I could breathe in the scent of whiskey, burnt smoke, and cedar-

that intoxicating cocktail that belonged only to him.
Gravity by John Mayer hit the speakers, and in unison, we moved to the song.
I avoided his gaze as I tried to ignore his hand around my waist and mine on his shoulder. It was frustrating that he had his eyes on my face the whole time, like I’d vanish if he looked away.
“You look good, Green,” he murmured, his eyes sliding from my face down the line of my body. “I still wonder why you chose purple as your favorite color. Green completes you.”
I rolled my eyes, my gaze skipping over his shoulder.
Purple and green were my favorite colors, but purple was at the top of the list. Although I wasn’t about to tell him that.
Tonight, I was wearing a green dress with a slit on both sides that revealed a little bit of my thighs. I didn’t have a choice when it came to picking the dress. He made the choice himself, down to the heel that had nearly broken my ankle a while ago.
“You’ve been unusually quiet since your little chat with Igor.” He tightened his grip around my waist just before spinning me,
making the world blur as he reversed our positions.
My shoulders tensed at the topic.
So, he knew of my discussion with Igor. How come he didn’t try to skin me alive?
His voice came again. “What exactly have you not been unable to get over, Green?”
It’s been more difficult being around him since my discovery from Igor. I avoided the cabin as much as I could, and
thankfully, he’d been letting me have my space.
Although, night time was exempted. He made sure to have me by his side and I didn’t really have a choice.
“How did you get the money to own a place like Ze Voyage?” I finally asked one of the questions that’d been gnawing at my
mind.

Back then, there had been news that Igor Stanislav must’ve gotten help from some businessmen expensive property in five cities. Who would’ve thought that it belonged to one man? One evil man.

Void tugged me closer, close enough for his nose to nuzzle the side of my neck. “I run into a lot of bad men, Green. So, I run into a lot of money.”
I tilted my head back to look at him. A small smile formed on his lips.
“Why even go into business? Shouldn’t you be too busy killing people?”
He frowned slightly, as if the idea actually offended him. “That part wasn’t mine. It was Eric’s. He told me it was wrong to be rich only in cash. He suggested investments and Ze Voyage-” he gave me a gentle spin that sent the hem of my dress flaring. “-among others came to mind.”
He caught me effortlessly when I spun back into him. I landed with a thud against his chest.
“You’re right, Rali,” he brushed his nose lightly along my jaw. “I’m too busy to babysit these investments, but I need them
because they keep making me richer, and I’ve always wanted to be rich enough for you.”
I blinked fast
“I’ve come to learn something about women,” he went on. “They like being spoiled. And for the rest of our lives, Green, I plan
to ruin you with gifts and gold. That’s the reason properties like Ze Voyage and the rest exist..”
1 swallowed hard, my throat tight.
He’s lying, Rali. He’ll say anything to get you on his side.
