You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 141

“What do you want?”

Joseph stared down at the knife pressed to his stomach, every muscle tense, his eyes locked on Patricia with pure suspicion.

“Killing me would be a crime. If something happens to me here today, do you honestly think you can just walk away?”

“Walk away?” Patricia let out a short laugh like she’d just heard the punchline to a joke. “Mr. Miller, are you serious? Why would I need to run?”

“Even three years ago, I got exactly what I came for. What makes you think I’d ever run from anything I’ve done to you?”

She wasn’t the kind of person who ran. She’d come back for payback. For every single one of them.

Joseph included.

He used to call her a cripple to her face. She’d never forgotten that. Not for a second.

“Patricia, you really think Riverdale still belongs to you? The Martin family is Ruby’s now. You have nothing to do with them anymore.”

“Is that so?” Patricia’s smile was easy but her eyes were icy, every word pointed. “If it’s all Ruby’s now, aren’t you worried she’ll find out what you did to her at Cloud Peak?”

Joseph’s heart dropped and for a split second, his face went stiff.

He glared at Patricia, but kept his mouth shut.

How could he tell if she really had proof or was just bluffing?

Patricia tilted her chin at the round table beside them, nodding at the envelope sitting there.

“Go ahead. Take a look.”

Joseph reached over and picked up the envelope. As soon as he pulled out the photos inside, his whole body went rigid.

How did she get these? How did she even know about this?

“Mr. Miller, just imagine what would happen if I handed these to Ruby. Where do you think that would leave you?”

Joseph’s face went ghost-white.
