“No one at home really blames him, but they can’t act like it in front of him. All the scolding and strict rules—they just want him to learn his lesson.”
“There aren’t many kids in the Padilla family. Each one is precious. All three are expected to inherit some part of the family business, so there’s no room for mistakes.”
Patricia listened quietly to Oliver, her mind racing.
All she could think about was targeted analysis. Hundreds of pages of slides. Every move, calculated and custom-made.
“How do you know someone specifically analyzed Colton?” she asked.
“When things went wrong, the Padillas weren’t about to let it slide. They tracked down the hideout, and when they raided it, they found a pile of whiteboards, computers everywhere, and a whole team of psychological profilers. The scene was wild.”
Patricia couldn’t help but think her little tricks with Theo were nothing in comparison.
This was how real masterminds operated.
She perked up, curiosity lighting her eyes. “Can you tell me more? I feel like I could use this.”
“On who?”
“Ruby. Or Theo.”
Oliver’s mood darkened the moment she mentioned Theo.
He stared at Patricia for a while, then threw back the covers. “Let’s just go to sleep.”
“Don’t be like that! I’m serious, this could really help me.”
“If you want to deal with them, the easiest way is for me to handle it and get it over with. Sure, slowly breaking someone down messes with their head, but it’ll wear you out too.”
“I want to drag them down, step by step. That’s what makes it fun for me.”
