You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 191

The party kicked off right on schedule.

Sara and Roger slipped into a quiet spot, ready to watch the night’s drama from the sidelines. Sara wandered the whole ballroom looking for sunflower seeds—no luck. With an exaggerated sigh, she dropped back down next to Roger.

“Wait, isn’t that the Riverdale Film Academy professor who just won Best Actress? Whose daughter is she again?”

“Not sure. I just remember her dad’s some kind of academic hotshot,” Roger replied, following Sara’s gaze. He sized up the woman—tall, elegant, and carrying all those labels like “second generation celebrity” and “genius.” She really was on another level.

She’d been a star since she was a kid, swept all the major awards. Basically unbeatable.

“Her dress looks exactly like Ruby’s. Is that the real one?”

Roger nodded. “Probably.”

There were rumors only one of those dresses existed.

As soon as the actress showed up, people started to notice. The crowd was buzzing, everyone glancing back and forth between the two dresses.

Ruby, totally clueless, came out from backstage holding up her skirt, still basking in the excitement of it all. But when the crowd parted and she saw the other woman’s dress, she froze.

The other woman looked just as surprised.

“I heard there’s only supposed to be one of those dresses! Which one of you is wearing the fake?” Sara, loving every second, made her way right to the center of the chaos.

Roger stuck close behind her, just in case Sara’s big mouth got her in trouble.

“Ask Ms. Martin!” someone yelled. Yvonne, who’d graduated from Riverdale and worked in the industry for years, radiated confidence. She stood out in a crowd.

Ruby, who was new money and newer to the scene, just couldn’t match that energy.

Tina, ever watchful, noticed the commotion and hurried over, worried Ruby was about to be embarrassed. She pushed through and, seeing the matching dresses, looked genuinely shocked.

They’d already prepared their press statement—maybe it was already out by now.

“What a coincidence,” Tina said, forcing a smile as she looked between the two women. “To think you both found the same dress—it must be fate.”
