Mallory even came in person to question Hunt.

They had more experience with interrogation and torture than the Ministry of Justice.
Even so, Hunt kept denying everything, insisting he knew nothing about the treason plot.
The case status was reported at the Royal Council meeting, with all officials present.
Unlike before, when everyone feared for their safety, a sense of calm finally settled over them.
Even Germain, who didn’t attend the meeting, knew that Madison and Hunt hadn’t named
anyone.
However, some people from Madison’s estate did confess that Germain and Howell had visited Madison’s estate.
Aldrich and others had also been there once.
But this couldn’t be used as evidence unless someone had actually heard them plotting
treason.
After all, it was perfectly normal for a brother to visit a sister.
Furthermore, Germain had only been to Madison’s estate once since returning to the capital. There was simply no way to connect him to the treason case.
The case finally hit a temporary pause.
Lycan Erasmus issued an order during the Royal Council meeting: Madison was to be imprisoned in the Royal Detention Center, escorted by the Capital Guard. The Ministry of Justice would continue the investigation, but the trial was suspended until the mastermind was found and the case could be formally closed.
To provide justice for the female victims, Hunt was sentenced to death and immediately executed. The Spectrehowl Pack was designated as an accessory to treason.
However, Lycan Erasmus did not order the confiscation of their assets.
The wealth they had accumulated through Madison was not seized, but he ordered the Spectrehowl Pack to provide money for the relocation and care of the female victims.

The case was largely concluded, but a lot of cleanup work remained.

The Police Station and the Capital Guard needed to cooperate with the Ministry of Justice.
Just dealing with the servants and managers at Madison’s estate–deciding who to punish and what their sentence should be–was enough to keep the Ministry of Justice people working through seven or eight straight nights.
The next day, Madison was to be transferred to the Royal Detention Center.
Adelaide was in charge of the operation, so she needed to prepare the escort.
“Send a lot of people. We need to prevent anyone from trying to rescue her, or assassinate her,” Lance warned.
“If someone tries to assassinate her, it might actually force Madison to talk,” Adelaide suggested.
Lance shook his head. “He’s not that careless. If he moves on Madison, he’ll do it under the guise of a ‘rescue. He won’t use a sniper because he won’t be 100% sure of a kill. If he fails to kill her, Madison will definitely give him up. He knows her too well–Madison might protect him, but she absolutely will not tolerate betrayal.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Adelaide nodded in agreement.
“But this is a huge opportunity, and he probably won’t pass it up. He might send some skilled operatives. They’ll pretend to rescue Madison but actually want to kill her.”
Adelaide put her hands on her hips. She’d been too busy with the case lately, she hadn’t even had time to eat properly.
She said, “He has a team of assassins. They’re the same ones who attacked the Blood Moon Pack. But he likely wouldn’t bring all of them to the capital, so he’ll probably just try his luck this time. He won’t commit too many people. They’re his backup plan, his protection in the capital.”
“Want me to go with you on the escort?” Lance asked.
Adelaide laughed. “No need. The Capital Guard is plenty capable.”
She made a fake punch and raised her chin at Lance, a confident look on her face. “Besides, I’ll be there.”
Germain was also discussing the matter with Raven.
