A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 101

"But Mr. Ford is in charge of the business in Seastone City right now," Tyson objected, shaking his head. "The ones making moves this time are from The Capital. And even if Ford's high up, at the end of the day, he's just Chairman Thorne's subordinate. He's not a real member of the Thorne family. Would the Thornes really go this far—openly targeting Goodwin Enterprises—for the sake of a mere employee?"

He paused, then added, "Besides, I can't believe Nona would come after me like this."

Celia almost laughed at his naiveté. But before she could respond, a sudden, chilling thought flashed through her mind.

What if Winona was actually related to the Thornes?

Wait—wasn't there a rumor about a mysterious Thorne heiress, someone who'd never appeared in public? Could it be…?

No way.

Celia quickly dismissed the idea. If Winona were really Miss Thorne, wouldn't she be impossibly arrogant? But Winona had never acted superior; she'd worked herself to the bone for Goodwin Enterprises, never putting on airs.

"Let's not get sidetracked," Tyson interrupted her thoughts, urging, "Celia, hurry up and get in touch with Selma. I don't know why the Thornes suddenly snatched that plot of land from Goodwin Enterprises, but since you're on good terms with them, maybe if you tell them about us, they'll reconsider—at least for your sake."

Thunder boomed outside. Sheets of rain battered the floor-to-ceiling windows, and Celia turned ghostly pale.

"I…"

She fumbled for her phone, but her mind was blank—she had no idea what excuse to use this time. Out of options, she simply rolled her eyes back and fainted dead away.

"Celia! Are you okay?"

Later that night, Victor summoned Winona to his study.
