Winona's mind went blank, a deafening rush of panic pounding in her ears. She struggled desperately, but Elvis—his arms wrapped around her like an unmovable mountain—wouldn't budge an inch.
Worse still, her attempts to break free only seemed to intensify the hunger flickering in his eyes.
"Elvis, calm down!" Winona's voice trembled.
She knew she owed him a debt, but paying it off with herself—like this—was far too reckless.
"Don't move!" Elvis growled, his voice tight with restraint. The veins in his neck stood out as he fought for control. "Unless you want to see me lose my mind…"
His gaze locked hungrily on her lips, dangerously close to losing control, yet clinging to the last threads of sanity.
Winona froze.
So that wasn't what he meant a moment ago?
"Then… what do you want me to do?" she stammered, her body rigid.
Elvis pressed his burning palm against her lower back. Even through her clothes, she could feel the heat radiating from his skin.
He let out a strangled groan, clearly struggling to keep himself in check.
"Lock the door," he managed, voice strained. "Then call my people. My phone's not on me…"
He kept telling her to go, yet clung to her even tighter.
"Let me go first," she pleaded.
Elvis drew in a few shuddering breaths, as if summoning all his willpower, and finally loosened his grip.
Winona seized the opportunity and shoved him away.
Caught off guard, Elvis toppled backward, knocking over the chair as he crashed to the floor.
"Oh—sorry!"
Muttering an apology, Winona hurried to put some distance between them.
She quickly locked the private dining room door, then stood by it, pulling out her phone.
"What's the number? I'll call."
Elvis closed his eyes and rattled off the digits.
Winona dialed immediately.
A young man picked up on the other end. Winona explained the situation crisply, gave the restaurant name and private room number. The man replied that he was nearby and would be there right away.
Hanging up, Winona let out a shaky breath.
