A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 7

Those two really are "madly in love."

Winona remembered how, back when she wanted to make their relationship public at the company, Tyson had told her, "Nona, work is work. Let's not bring our private lives into the office."

She'd thought he just wanted to protect his privacy, so she'd agreed without protest.

But looking back now, it was clear—he'd been saving the title of "Mrs. Goodwin" for Celia all along.

Winona hadn't wanted to attend the company dinner that evening, but her colleagues were so insistent and warm that she eventually gave in and tagged along to the restaurant.

Everyone knew the dinner was for welcoming Celia, so as soon as they sat down, someone went over to offer Celia a toast.

But Tyson intercepted, his voice calm and authoritative. "Celia isn't feeling well—she shouldn't be drinking. I'll take her place."

He picked up the glass in front of him and downed it in one go, then thoughtfully poured Celia a glass of juice instead.

Teasing laughter bubbled up around the private dining room. Maybe it was the relaxed atmosphere, or maybe it was being away from the office, but even the executive assistants—usually so intimidated by Mr. Goodwin—dared to speak up.

"Mr. Goodwin really dotes on Miss Goodwin, doesn't he?"

"He's such a gentleman."

Celia's cheeks flushed a delicate pink. "It's nothing like that… Mr. Goodwin just feels sorry for me because I'm not well."

"Oh, come on, Miss Goodwin. Don't be so modest. It's obvious how much he cares about you."

"Mr. Goodwin, does that mean you'll drink all of Miss Goodwin's toasts tonight?"

Tyson glanced at Celia beside him, a faint smile on his lips. "No matter how many glasses you offer her, I'll drink them all for her."

A collective "Wow…" rippled through the group. No one had expected the usually frosty Mr. Goodwin to be so attentive in love!

With that, she held her glass out expectantly.

Winona's expression remained calm. "Sorry, my stomach's been bothering me lately. I can't drink."

Celia's face immediately crumpled into a look of wounded innocence. "Did I do something to offend you, Ms. Thorne? I just wanted to share a toast, nothing more."

Winona could hardly believe it—she was telling the truth, after all.

Celia shot Tyson a pitiful glance.

His brows drew together in an instant.

"Ms. Thorne," he said coldly, "Celia is your new colleague. When she offers a toast, you should accept."
