"Nona, look at this!" Veronica suddenly thrust her tablet in front of her, the screen displaying a teaser poster for Jonah's upcoming art exhibition.
Front and center was an unfinished portrait—a woman's profile sketched in gentle lines, the curve of her jaw captured with care. In tiny letters at the bottom right corner, it read: "For W."
"That's obviously you!" Veronica exclaimed. "And look—W… for Winona?"
Winona frowned slightly.
Already, Jonah's teaser had stirred quite a bit of buzz online.
"Who's W?"
"Is she someone Mr. Jonah likes?"
"Is he in a relationship?"
"Who's the lucky girl? I'm dying to know!"
Jonah, for his part, hadn't responded to any of the speculation.
"He really shouldn't be doing this," Veronica muttered, her brows drawn together. "Honestly, anyone who knows you would recognize that profile in an instant."
The soft outline of the face, the subtle arch at the corner of the eye—it was unmistakably Winona's usual expression. Even the tiny beauty mark on the earlobe had been faithfully rendered.
Veronica slammed the tablet down on the table, sending crumbs from her chocolate bar scattering. She didn't even bother to wipe them away. "He's doing it on purpose! He knows you're supposed to be with Elvis. Is he trying to make Elvis jealous?"
Before she could finish, Winona's phone buzzed.
She snatched it up almost reflexively, only to see a text from an unfamiliar number—not Elvis, but Jonah: "Miss Thorne, the poster was a selfish impulse. If it bothers you, I'll remove it immediately. —Jonah"
"He's got some nerve," Veronica growled, leaning over to read the message. She looked ready to toss the tablet across the room. "What does he mean, a selfish impulse? Who gave him the right to drag you into this?"
Winona stared at the message, thumb hovering above the screen, uncertain.
Remove it? With Jonah's reputation, pulling the poster now would only fan the flames. People would dig even deeper, and "Miss W" would become the center of even more speculation.
