Chapter 120 You’re Not the Only One Who Can Fly a Plane
“Sonya, what is this about? Why do you want Chloe to apologize?” Willow asked in confusion.
“The other day, Curtis and I went to an event at the orphanage. I discovered Chloe might have secretly texted a reporter to slander me. When I asked to check her phone, she refused and treated both Curtis
and me with hostility.”
Sonya’s voice paused for a beat. “Willow, Curtis‘ wrist is broken, and it was all because of Chloe. If not
her, why would Brian have snapped his wrist?”
Willow’s face changed instantly. Brian had actually broken Curtis‘ wrist for Chloe?
Brian had never been the kind of man to intervene for anyone. But for Chloe, he’d done it time and time
again.
The thought made Willow snap at Chloe, “Chloe, hurry up and apologize to Sonya and Mr. Green!”
Chloe couldn’t be bothered with any of them.
The phone call earlier had been from Wade. He’d asked her to come quickly and said the same thing- that she was needed to pilot the helicopter to the island for emergency rescue efforts.
She had no time to waste here.
“Chloe, don’t you dare leave!” Willow rushed to block her path.
She was desperate for Sonya to carry out the rescue. It was her only chance to cover up her own mistake. If the employees stranded on the island ended up in real danger, she wouldn’t be able to escape
responsibility.
“And why wouldn’t I dare?” Chloe shot back with a laugh.
“Chloe!” Sonya stepped forward. “Aren’t you a veteran? Don’t you love showing off how kind you are? Well,
I’m giving you the chance right now.
“If you apologize to me and I’m satisfied, I’ll fly the helicopter and save those employees. But if you don’t apologize, and it ruins my mood, what if I make a mistake while flying? What if I can’t save them? If the employees suffer because of the delay, it’ll all be your fault!”
Sonya was placing the burden directly on Chloe’s shoulders.
Curtis, who’d been silent until now, finally spoke. “Chloe, you don’t have to apologize to me, but you should at least apologize to Sonya. She rescued people during the fire before. She doesn’t deserve to be
slandered like this.”
“Hero?” Chloe let out a cold laugh. A person like Sonya? It was hard to believe she was truly a hero.
Her performance on stage at the orphanage had made it obvious that she was hiding something.

“I don’t know whether she’s a hero or not, but if you want to claim that I slandered her, then at least bring out some evidence,” Chloe said firmly. “And I don’t have time to waste on this nonsense!”
“Chloe, if you won’t apologize to Sonya, don’t even think about leaving!” Willow waved her hand, and the security guards surrounded Chloe.
Chloe frowned.
“Chloe, do you not value the lives of Quall Group’s employees? Every minute you delay, you’re putting
them in danger!” Willow accused her harshly, taking the moral high ground. “If anything happens to them, I
won’t let you off!”
“Shouldn’t you hold Sonya accountable instead?” Chloe sneered, “She’s the one refusing to help because
of personal grudges. And that’s supposed to be right?”
Willow was left momentarily speechless, then snapped angrily, “That’s only because you won’t apologize!”
“She has no reason to apologize!” Brian’s voice cut through the room.
Chloe turned her head and saw Brian walking toward her. “Why are you here?”
“Avery told me that you came to Quall Group, so I came to take a look,” Brian said. Then, his gaze swept
coldly across Willow.
Willow felt a chill crawl up her spine.
“Mr. Steele, shouldn’t Chloe apologize to me and Curtis for what happened at the orphanage that day? Or
are you going to apologize on her behalf?” Sonya quickly prodded.
Brian let out a cold laugh. “An apology? Do you think you’re entitled to one?”
“Whether we’re entitled to it or not is between us. If you want me to go on that rescue mission, she has to apologize first!” Sonya threatened.
A flicker of hostility flashed through Brian’s eyes, but before he could speak, Chloe stepped forward.”
Sonya, other people’s lives aren’t bargaining chips for you to use. If you don’t want to save them, fine. I
will.”
“What? You will save them?” Willow was stunned.
Sonya sneered. “Chloe, what nonsense are you spouting? You’ll save them? Even if you did fly planes in
the military, that was three years ago. You’ve probably lost your touch by now. And besides, the winds
around that island are unpredictable. Do you think you can handle it?”
“That’s my business, not yours,” Chloe said firmly.
“Chloe, I’ve been waiting for you.” Wade quickly walked over.
“Uncle Wade, I can take the helicopter to the island for the rescue right now,” Chloe said.
“Good. Come with me,” Wade replied. “The helicopter is on the rooftop helipad.”

The security guards who’d been blocking Chloe a moment ago didn’t dare stop her now.
“Uncle Wade, are you really letting Chloe fly the helicopter for the rescue?” Willow asked.
“Who else will do it? Sonya?” Wade shot Sonya a look. When he’d walked up earlier, he’d overheard Sonya demanding that Chloe apologize before she agreed to fly the helicopter. His impression of her had soured
completely.
Willow was speechless.
Chloe and Brian followed Wade into the elevator.
Willow turned to Sonya. “Sonya, since Chloe is going to fly the helicopter now, then you…”
“Hmph. Does he actually believe that Chloe could pull off a rescue mission? She’ll probably crash the helicopter before she even makes it to the island!” Sonya said bitterly, striding toward the elevator. “I want to see Chloe make a fool of herself!”
“You’re right! And when she fails, won’t they end up begging you to help instead?” Willow said, following
behind.
Curtis stayed silent.
Once they were inside the elevator, Sonya pressed, “Curtis, why aren’t you saying anything? Chloe’s talking big today, but she’s only digging her own grave. Just wait and see how she ends up.”
Curtis only grew quieter. After all, he’d seen Chloe fly before, and her skills were far superior to Sonya’s.
Before long, the three of them reached the rooftop helipad. Chloe was about to board the helicopter when Brian caught her arm. “I can find another pilot to fly over there. It doesn’t have to be you.”
He was afraid that something might happen to her.
“There’s no time. Every second sooner we get there gives them a better chance,” Chloe said.
“Then, I’ll go with you!” Brian insisted.
“You’re not trained for rescue operations. If you come, it’ll only make things harder,” Chloe replied. “Trust
Brian held her gaze for a long moment. “Alright. I’ll wait for you to come back.”
Chloe climbed into the cockpit. Moments later, the helicopter lifted smoothly off the pad and turned
toward the island.
Sonya’s eyes widened as she watched it fly farther and farther away.
Chloe had actually taken off, and the flight was steady, precise, and even flawless.
That was impossible.
Chloe was supposed to be bluffing. She was supposed to embarrass herself.

So why did it feel like Sonya was the one humiliated instead?

Chapter 121 The Brave and the Cowardly
If Chloe really managed to pull off the rescue, she would take all the credit, and Sonya would be left in her
shadow.
No. She couldn’t let that happen.
Sonya’s gaze locked on another helicopter. “I’m going too!”
“What? You as well?” Willow asked, startled.
“Chloe may know how to fly, but she’s no match for a professional pilot like me. And the winds out there are unpredictable. If she fails, she could endanger herself as well as the people she’s trying to save. It’s safer if I go with her,” Sonya insisted.
In truth, she had to reach the victim before Chloe did.
“Alright then, you can go too!” Willow deliberately raised her voice. “Chloe’s been out of the military for years. Who knows how rusty her piloting skills are by now?”
That last part was meant for Brian.
Wade caught on and gave a firm nod. “Sonya should go as well.”
He quickly ordered a rescue worker to board the helicopter alongside her.
“Curtis, come with me,” Sonya said.
“Me?” Curtis looked startled. “But my hand’s injured. I doubt I can be of much use…”
“You don’t have to do anything. Just the fact that you’re there will put me at ease while I carry out the
rescue efforts,” Sonya replied.
Deep down, she wanted Curtis to witness firsthand just how much more capable she was than Chloe.
“Mr. Green, you should go with Sonya,” Willow urged.
She wanted Sonya to be the one who rescued the victim before Chloe did.
Curtis wondered why he had to go at all when even Brian wasn’t required to join.
But with both Willow and Sonya pressing him, he couldn’t refuse. Reluctantly, he boarded the helicopter. Wade figured having more people on the mission would be safer, so he didn’t stop them.
Sonya took the controls, flying the helicopter toward the island with Curtis and the rescue worker on
board.
Willow glanced at Brian beside her. “Brian, let’s go inside. Sonya will have them rescued in no time.”
Then he would realize that Chloe was nothing but a show–off and only cared about her image.

But Brian didn’t move. He stayed rooted to the spot, his eyes fixed on the sky where Chloe’s helicopter had vanished, as if he could still see her from afar.
What was it about Chloe that made Brian care for her so much?
“Brian, stop looking!” Willow stepped forward and grabbed his hand. But she froze, her eyes widening as she stared at the right hand she’d touched.
That hand had always been breathtakingly beautiful, yet it was also her greatest nightmare.
It was the same hand that had once nearly gouged out her eyes, the fingers sharp and merciless like weapons. She’d spent years in therapy just to overcome her fear of those hands.
And now that very hand was trembling.
Brian quickly pulled his hand away.
“Brian, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Your hand is shaking,” Willow asked anxiously.
He pressed his lips together, staring at the tremor in his hand.
“Yes, my hand is trembling,” he murmured.
It was fear. Fear that Chloe would find herself in danger while trying to save someone. Fear that he
couldn’t be there with her.
The dread spread through him.
“So, I really do love her,” he whispered into the silence.
