Chapter 155 Who Are You Trying to Taint
Lena was startled. Why was Thomas standing at her door?
Through the narrow crack she’d opened, he stared at her with a chilling intensity.
She instantly found herself stuck in a dilemma. Should she open the door and let him in, or slam it shut and pretend she hadn’t seen him at all?
Just then, a door opened in the room next door. Lena jumped, quickly swung her door open, and pulled Thomas inside.
“You’re…”
Thomas frowned, starting to speak, but Lena instantly clapped her hand over his mouth to
silence him.
She then carefully cracked the door open again and peeked outside.
Sure enough, she saw Sonya and the man emerge. The man grinned broadly. “My patience is limited. I’ll wait one month. If you don’t have the money by then, you’ll face the consequences.
Sonya glared at him. “Fine. Just make sure I don’t see you again this month! And if Curtis gets suspicious because of this, you won’t get a single cent!”
Peter shrugged and watched Sonya leave, then retreated back into his room.
Only after that did Lena close the door. She turned to Ethan, who was sitting on the couch. ‘ Hey, did you hear that? Something shady is going on between Sonya and that man!”
“I didn’t hear anything from outside the door, but I can tell you’re in trouble,” Ethan said,
amusement in his voice.
Lena froze, suddenly aware of the warmth against her palm.
Oh, gosh! She was still covering Thomas‘ mouth!
As if her hand had been scalded, Lena yanked it back and forced an awkward smile. “What a… coincidence. Fancy seeing you again.”
Thomas didn’t reply. His cold eyes stayed locked on her.
His presence pressed down on her like a weight she couldn’t lift. Lena felt like a sinner
standing before a judge.
“Are you here to see Ethan?” she asked, grasping for a topic. “Well, you two can chat. I’ll be going.”

She reached for her bag, eager to make her escape.
“I didn’t realize you were so interested in Ethan,” Thomas said, his gaze flicking between Lena and Ethan.
“Last time it was taking his clothes off. Now it’s booking a room?” A faint trace of jealousy lingered in his voice, though he didn’t even realize it himself.
Ethan, who’d been lounging lazily, nearly slid off the couch.
“Lena, when did you strip my clothes off?”
Lena was mortified. “You were drunk and threw up! I was just trying to be helpful, okay?”
“Yeah, if I’d arrived a bit later that day, you probably would have taken all his clothes off,” Thomas added.
The two men faced each other. One with a fiery glare, the other with icy contempt.
Completely miserable, Lena felt trapped between them.
It was clear Thomas and Ethan were both here just to torment her.
No matter how handsome a man was, it didn’t mean he would be pleasing to the eye or make you feel amazing. In fact, he might just drive you crazy.
“I was only trying to unbutton the top two buttons of his shirt so he could breathe, okay?” Lena protested, pointing at Ethan. “Besides, didn’t I tell you that day I wouldn’t be interested in him even if he stripped naked and danced in front of me?”
Thomas raised an eyebrow, his expression softening just a little.
Ethan shot her a glare, clearly annoyed. “Seriously? You think I’d strip naked and dance? Lena, what the hell is going on in your head?”
Lena was left speechless. Fine! He could swear all he wanted. She just wanted to prove her innocence, after all.
“If you’re not interested in Ethan, then why are you in the same room with him?” Thomas
asked.
Lena hesitated, then said, “Well… I was stalking someone. The woman who just left is Sonya. She’s my best friend’s nemesis!”
“That’s true, Thomas!” Ethan added. “Otherwise, why would I come to a place like this and book a room with her? I’m not interested in her. You know the type of woman I like.”
Thomas knew Ethan’s heart belonged to Chloe, the former captain of the special forces in the military. Ethan had even gone abroad after Chloe got married.

“If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving!” Ethan said, rising to make a clean exit.
“Hey, wait!” Lena called out. “Don’t forget to look into the man who was with Sonya today. What exactly does he do? It seemed like some kind of money deal between them. I have a
feeling that guy has dirt on Sonya.”
“Got it. I’ll handle it,” Ethan replied, giving a dismissive wave before abruptly leaving the
room.
Silence fell immediately.
Lena realized that she was now alone with Thomas.
“Hehe… well, I should go too,” she said, moving to leave, only for Thomas to stretch out his long arm and block her path.
“Don’t you have something to say?” he asked, his gaze fixed on her.
She blinked. “Uh… say what? Oh, right! You don’t have to worry about the room charge. I already paid for it!”
A vein throbbed faintly on Thomas‘ forehead.
After all these years, it seemed she was still the only person capable of provoking him so easily.
