Chapter 18 You’ve Got the Wrong Person

“Ms. Ana! I’ve finally found you!”

Jonathon’s accent was typical of Brookford, his excitement making his paunch tremble.

Annelise turned to look at him. He wore a fine suit, was not very tall, but had a distinct

business aura.

He wasn’t anyone she recognized.

She picked up her bag, expression neutral. “You’ve got the wrong person.”

“The wrong person?” Jonathon repeated dejectedly. He’d thought this girl, with her striking looks and elegant bearing, must be Ana.

Now he realized he was just desperately clutching at straws.

The information from Elmbrook County hadn’t mentioned Ana knowing medicine.

“If this skilled healer really were her, the Whitman family would have surely said so,” he told himself.

He’d been fooled by a back that looked just like hers.

Wiping his sweat, Jonathon avoided mentioning the Caldwell family, opting for a simpler story. “It’s like this. My boss went to the countryside and suddenly came down with a fever. It’s lasted a whole day now. He’s been on antibiotics and had an IV at the hospital, but his temperature won’t drop. I was hoping you could take a look.”

“If he’s already in the hospital, there’s no need to worry. The professional doctors will treat him. He’ll improve!” Annelise initially declined.

Her grandmother still didn’t know the Whitman family had thrown her out.

He hurriedly led her to the roadside and gestured respectfully. “After you!”

A luxury business sedan, worth over 500 thousand dollars, sat there, understated yet opulent. with Brookford license plates.

A license plate number like that was far beyond the means of an ordinary company manager.

Annelise was clever. Remembering the document her subordinate had sent, she had a suspicion. She raised a lazy eyebrow. “The sick man’s surname is Caldwell?”
