Chapter 19 Annelise Comes to Antonio’s Rescue
Jonathon wasn’t looking down on Annelise.
It was just that the Caldwell family preferred to stay out of the spotlight.
Even the young gentlemen made their way in the world without using the family name.
This trip to Criford was only to find Ana, not to draw attention.
He’d been terrified she had guessed Antonio’s identity.
Many local families wanted to get close to the Caldwell family. If they found out Antonio was here, his treatment would be impossible.
He couldn’t be the one to let the secret out.
Annelise saw through everything but said nothing.
Doctors had a duty of confidentiality.
A patient’s status didn’t matter. They were just a patient.
Still, she wondered, puzzled, “Why would the Caldwell family search for their lost daughter in a place like Silverwood Heights?”
Before she could ponder further, the car stopped at the medical center
In the VIP ward 601, Antonio lay feverish and coughing, muttering in his delirium, “Ana, where are you? I miss you so much…‘

The family physician traveling with him was skilled, but these symptoms were puzzling
As Antonio’s condition worsened, the physician grew desperate and urged the hospital to fetch Rosalie immediately.

Rosalie, already upset about the ban from Paradise Pharma, was in no mood for extra work. “Have them make an appointment first. Does everyone think I see just anyone?”

“But Dr. Kendrick, the patient is critically ill with unusual symptoms. His life might be in danger.”
“Then refuse the case. Send him elsewhere!” Rosalie snapped
“That’s not really appropriate…” the junior doctor said softly. “We treat emergencies first”
“Are you telling me how to do my job?” Rosalie said coldly.
The junior doctor quickly apologized, “The patient is from Brookford. Could you please just take a look?”
“Brookford? Worth my time, with or without status,” Rosalie thought. “Fine. Tell the family to wait,” she said.
“Understood!”
But she made no move to hurry.
Gaston Gilbert, the family physician, paced anxiously outside the ward. With no other options, he considered contacting the Winthrop family for help.
Suddenly, a cry came from inside the room.
“Emergency! The patient’s heart and lung function are dropping rapidly!”
“Check his pupils!”
“Where is the family? Is the family here?!”
Gaston broke into a cold sweat.
He thought anxiously, “What should I do? Notify Mr. Caldwell? But it takes six hours to get here from Brookford…”
Doctors were shouting, “We need to operate! A family member must sign the consent forms!”
The hallway descended into chaos as medical staff rushed about.
