“You know medicine?”

The duty doctor’s voice was full of astonishment.

Rosalie gave a scornful laugh. “Dr. Pennington, have you lost your senses? A young girl like her, knowing medicine? She must have overheard a nurse discussing the symptoms.”

“Dr. Kendrick, this young lady just arrived. We haven’t had a chance to speak with her,” a nurse clarified.

Rosalie shot her a glare. “So? How old is she? She probably hasn’t even finished her education! Does she even have a license to practice?”

With a thump, Annelise placed her medical license on a nearby chair, and it was certified at the Lead Physician level.

Anyone in medicine knew how difficult it was to achieve that rank.

Who could now claim she was unqualified?

The sound of the license hitting the chair was like a slap to Rosalie’s face.

Doctors and nurses stared in disbelief. “A Lead Physician? That’s equivalent to a full professor here in Criford… But she’s so young! How is that possible?”

Annelise’s features were sharp, her stunning gaze fixed directly on Rosalie. “Step aside.”

Rosalie’s face flushed with anger as she scrutinized the license, searching for any sign it was fake.

But Annelise was already being ushered into the room by Jonathon.

Freddy Pennington, the duty doctor, followed closely to assist.

Even nurses who usually dared not cross Rosalie jumped in to help. Saving a life was the priority now.

Rosalie watched the scene with pure venom. No one had ever publicly humiliated her like this in a hospital.

Chapter 21 She’s a Lead Physician

“Let her treat him then! I’d like to see who will take responsibility when she fails!”

Annelise reviewed it, her expression unchanged. “Lobar pneumonia, complicated by heart failure.”

“Correct!” Freddy nodded.

Annelise opened her medical case. “List the patient’s pre–existing conditions and previous medications.”

“The patient is seventy–eight with multiple conditions: coronary heart disease, hypertension, and a concurrent urinary tract infection,” Freddy reported, looking troubled. “Other factors are unknown. The main issue is his allergic reactions to many antibiotics, which have severely limited our treatment options.”
