Willow let out a short, mocking laugh. “Let me guess—she’s saying the only reason she set me up is because she wanted revenge on my dad?”
Ryan chuckled as well. “Bingo. That’s exactly what she told us.”
“So is my dad going to be summoned in for questioning?” Willow pushed down the chill rising in her chest and tried to keep her voice even.
Ryan gave a low “Yeah,” then explained, “Zoe’s filed a complaint. Standard procedure is to call him in. But earlier, our guys tried reaching your dad and couldn’t get through. Maybe his phone’s dead or he just doesn’t have it on him.”
“He still hasn’t picked up?” A bad feeling crept into Willow’s gut.
“Not yet,” Ryan replied. “If we can’t get hold of him by tomorrow, we’ll probably have to call his office. Worst case, we send someone over to his place.”
“I live close by. I’ll swing by his house and see what’s going on.”
“Alright. Be careful, and keep your phone on you!”
“Will do.”
Willow hung up and immediately went to change and head out the door.
As she reached the parking garage, her phone rang again—this time, it was Beasley.
A cold glint flashed in Willow’s eyes. Her instincts screamed that Beasley had something to do with all this, but she didn’t have a shred of proof. Zoe still hadn’t given up the real mastermind; for now, Beasley was untouchable.
Not wasting a second, Willow slid into her car and answered the call. “What do you want?”
“Where are you going?” Beasley’s voice sounded tense, almost urgent.
