Valerie was obviously not going to tell Lucius that she’d spent the entire night researching in
the lab.
Since Guldner Group’s new product was about to be publicly released, Valerie needed to send them a gift out of respect while there was still time.
Valerie didn’t need to inform Lucius of this, given that he was just an outsider.
In order to shut him up, she just said, “I’m going on a date with a hot guy I met recently.”
Even though Lucius knew Valerie was purposely upsetting him, he still took the bait. “What’s your lover’s name?”
“His name is Dumb Fool, and he’s a 48–year–old man. We’re deeply in love with one another.”
Even though Lucius did his best to hold back, he still burst into laughter.
Dumb Fool, 48 years old? Only Valerie could manage to make this up.
“You can always ask me if you want to attend that auction on the ship, Valerie. There’s no need
to ask Noah for help. He won’t be able to participate in that event, given his identity.
“If you’re trying to take advantage of him to achieve your goal, then I’m afraid you’ll have to suffer disappointment,” Lucius said.
It took some time for Valerie to understand what Lucius was implying.
She was speechless at first, then quickly chuckled. “Hey, do you think Noah will cave and help me if I ask him nicely?”
Those words tipped Lucius over. “I’ll admit defeat if he does!”
He then flung the door open and left. Only when he was completely gone did Valerie take out her phone to click into a contact of hers.
She typed into the text bar, “Urgent. I need help from one of your people.”
The contact quickly answered, “Who?”
“Your man.”
…
In the end, Lucius still brought Sonia on the ship just to spite Valerie.
The auction lasted only a single night, and the ship would dock at 10:00 pm sharp. Hence,
Lucius wasn’t concerned that his and Valerie’s secret would be uncovered.
Chapter 70
2/2
The said ship was a lavish cruise ship that had a maximum capacity of 500 people. It had all the facilities one could ever want or need. The guests present came from all across the world.
This wasn’t the first time Lucius had participated in an auction of this nature. In fact, it wasn’t an auction at all. The organizers only called it that to cover up its true nature.
Their true intention was to organize a private gathering for all the powerful and important people from all over the world.
None of Lucius‘ friends were present tonight. Noah couldn’t participate due to his identity, Finn was overseas for work, and Dale was recovering from a heavy case of the flu at home.
Silas and Keane were naturally present, given they were Lucius‘ right and left–hand men. Lucius also had eight other bodyguards with him.
