Bound by Magic, Married by Fate novel Chapter 81

Chapter 81

As the bidding sum grew exponentially high, Sonia directed her attention to Lucius. Aren’t you going to restore your pride after being oneupped by Mr. Foster earlier, Mr. White?

Lucius obviously saw through Sonia’s little plan. Was she actually trying to use him to win against Darrell?

Yes, Lucius hated Darrell. But that didn’t mean Lucius was going to be so stupidly manipulated by Sonia.

If you’re worried that you don’t have the funds to pay for the aquamarine necklace, I can always loan the remaining sum to you with 10 percent interest. But you have to repay me the money in three days. Failure to comply will raise the interest rate to 20 percent,Lucius said.

Those words upset Sonia even more. She’d thought that even if Lucius didn’t outwardly acknowledge their relationship as a couple, he’d at least be gracious enough when it came to money. Yet now, Sonia was even pitted against Luciusarchenemy, Darrell.

As Valerie continued bidding on Darrell’s behalf, Sonia kept pressing her own button. She no longer cared about whether she had the funds to pay for her bid anymore. All she wanted was to win against Valerie.

At that point, the aquamarine necklace had a current bid of 2.6 million dollars.

Sonia angrily pressed her button againshe had to win at all costs!

But unexpectedly, her indicator didn’t appear onscreen this time after she pressed the button. This small lag was what made Darrell the winner of the bid.

Something’s wrong with the system. My button isn’t working!Sonia yelled, immediately flying into a rage.

Her shrill voice made the crowd erupt in murmurs of astonishment. Was Sonia out of her mind?

A staff member quickly came over to check on her button. After several pressings, they concluded that nothing was wrong with it.

But Sonia stubbornly argued, The button really did malfunction earlier. That necklace should’ve been mine!

Valerie, who had been watching her all this time, said sarcastically, Are you seriously using a button malfunction as an excuse for the fact that you don’t have enough money to bid for the item? You may not feel embarrassed, but Mr. White must surely be now since he’s the one who brought you on board.

Sonia was aggravated by Valerie’s voice, and her rage spiraled out of control.

You must’ve done something to my button that made it malfunction!Sonia screeched.

Darrell huffed angrily. You need evidence to prove your accusations, Ms. Woodward.

Even though Sonia knew she couldn’t afford to get on Darrell’s wrong side, she still vented her anger uncontrollably.

That bitch Valerie Collins has been setting me up ever since I stepped on this boat! She thinks she’s so much better than I am, all because she knows one more language than I do. I’m sure she was involved in that scandalous video about my family earlier, too!Sonia cried.

But you’re a very skilled hacker, Ms. Woodward. How could you have let all this happen to you?another guest asked, confused.

The other guests agreed with this line of questioning.

The reason they held respect for Sonia was because of her capable skills. But now that Sonia had been made a fool so many times, was it possible that her reputation was all a farce?

Her capabilities aside, Sonia was giving the world a terrible impression of herself as she continued screeching in public.

Her final shred of reason seemed to dissipate the moment she saw that even the guests were questioning her.

I told you that Valerie is behind all this! All I wanted to do was upload a video that would ruin her reputation, yet my phone suddenly lagged. All the videos I could use against her were then scrubbed clean from my files!
