It was around 8:00 pm when Giselle arrived, still driving Donovan's Audi A8. She pulled into the courtyard and parked outside the villa, entering his residence as she always had.
The housekeepers and staff had returned from their days off, and the villa was once again in its spotless, untouchable state—immaculate and coldly elegant.
Led by Benjamin, Giselle walked into the living room, her purse clutched in her hand, her steps heavy with unspoken emotion.
"Ms. Holt, please have a seat. I'll go upstairs and inform Mr. Kane," Benjamin said.
"No need. I'll go myself," she replied.
Without waiting, she slowly made her way to the staircase, each step a heavy weight. When she reached the second-floor study—a place so familiar to her—she found him working.
Donovan always put his company first. No matter what was happening, he never let anything disrupt his routine. Even after cutting ties with her so coldly, he remained as focused as ever, attending to business as usual.
The sight of it filled Giselle with bitter irony. After ending their relationship so ruthlessly, he could carry on without missing a beat.
Calm and composed, he was entirely focused on his own life, as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, she had nearly lost her mind and, in her desperation, had come to him. She was like a lost pet with nowhere else to turn.
She quietly pushed open the half-closed study door. He was sitting at a lab counter, deeply focused on developing a new drug, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose.
He heard the door and instinctively turned his head. When he saw her, his expression froze for a second. But just as quickly, he looked away as if she didn't exist, returning to his work without a word.
Giselle didn't hesitate. Without a word, she reached into her bag, pulled out the pregnancy reports, and walked over to him. As she handed them to him, her voice came out low and steady. "I'm pregnant."
