Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 118

Giselle wanted to argue, but in the end, all she could do was call her assistant and ask them to come handle things. She herself had no choice but to get into the patrol car.

Before leaving, she glanced at Gideon. He stood there with a cigarette hanging from his lips, watching her go with a smug, predatory expression, like a petty villain basking in victory.

She had no idea who he really was. She assumed he was probably just another spoiled rich brat with powerful connections. One phone call, and he had her hauled off as if she were nothing.

She never expected things to escalate this far. A minor car crash, and now she was being taken to the police station. An entire day was wasted, and nothing important could get done. However, regret at this point was useless.

After a detailed police investigation and a review of the traffic surveillance footage, they issued a formal conclusion that, according to Article 133-1 of the Criminal Code, her actions constituted dangerous driving—a serious offence against public safety. She would face detention and a fine.

Giselle couldn't believe it. She tried to argue, "But no real harm was done. I can just settle privately with the other party, or you could fine me or issue a warning. It doesn't have to be this serious. Do I really need to be detained?"

But the officers wouldn't hear it. They continued to explain the law to her.

She had intentionally accelerated in a fit of emotion and rammed into the other car on a busy street during peak traffic hours. She caused significant property damage, posed a serious threat to the driver's safety, ran a red light, and nearly hit a passing delivery rider. Taken together, the circumstances were considered severe. She had broken the law.

The final outcome was five days of administrative detention, a 500-dollar fine, and separate compensation for the damages to the other vehicle.

Faced with the official penalty document and told to sign, Giselle felt nothing but frustration.

She could have applied for an administrative review or filed more appeals, but she was out of energy. She had run the red light, hit the car, and nearly hit a biker—there was no denying the truth of what had happened.

In the end, she just signed her name.
