Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 132

Anne followed Donovan to an empty area near the corner.

"Don, did you want to tell me something important?" she asked, puzzled.

"Why did you tell Zach about what happened between me and Giselle?" he demanded, his back facing her.

"Well…" Anne took a deep breath and continued calmly, "That bitch has gone too far. I just wanted Zach to see her true colors soon so he could finally give up on her. This helps with his recovery too."

"Stay out of our family affairs," Donovan said coldly as he looked away. "And whatever goes on between me and Giselle is none of your business. From now on, stop meddling in my affairs."

Anne couldn't hold it in any longer. "Don, do my feelings not matter to you at all? Do you still remember we're engaged? We—"

"Enough." He cut her off icily. "I've decided to call off our engagement. I hope you can keep your distance and go find your true happiness."

"No!"

All the resentment she'd been holding back burst forth like a dam.

"Don, everyone in our circle knows that we're engaged. I know what happened between you and Giselle isn't your fault—she seduced you at first! I can forgive you. After all, we're not officially married yet. Even if you slept with her, it doesn't count as cheating on me.

"Now that you two are separated—she's decided to stop clinging to you—let's just let bygones be bygones! If you're in a bad mood and need time to adjust, I can wait for you. I don't mind getting married next year too.

"Just don't call off the engagement, okay?"

Her pleas did nothing to Donovan except for making him feel even more frustrated.

Indeed, his marriage arrangement with Anne had been orchestrated entirely by their parents since the beginning. Apart from the basic courtesy any man would show a woman, he'd never felt anything special for her.

They might seem like an engaged couple, but up to this day, he'd never so much as hugged her—let alone shared any deeper intimacy.
