After hearing that, Donovan's expression hardened. He tried to recall something, anything, but he couldn't remember a thing from last night.

He looked down at the hospital bed but couldn't find any evidence either. He eyed Anne skeptically. "Is this for real?"

He couldn't believe he could get aroused for a woman he didn't even feel anything for, especially when he was running a high fever and feeling weak all over.

"Why would I lie about something like this?" Wrapped in the blanket, her cheeks were flushed as if she'd just lost her virginity. "Even though you had a fever, you were incredibly strong. I didn't dare to resist because you were injured, so I just... let it happen."

Then, she leaned in and draped her arms over his shoulder. "Don't worry. I genuinely don't mind it at all. We're both adults, and we're going to get married, so it was bound to happen sooner or later.

"I'm mostly just worried about your injuries and whether this will affect—"

"Enough." Donovan was fully awake now. He thought about what Anne had said and started piecing together what might've happened the night before. The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became.

Even though he was engaged to Anne, he had only ever seen her as a friend. He never thought about crossing that line before marriage. Now that it had happened, he felt conflicted inside.

If it had been any other woman, he could've written a check and sent them away. However, Anne was different; she and Giselle were half-sisters. The thought that he might have slept with both of Tony's daughters made his stomach churn.

"Take the pill right this instant." Since he couldn't change what had happened, the least he could do now was make sure there were no other problems.

"What pill?" she asked, feigning confusion.

"Emergency birth control pill."
