Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 155

In the days that followed, the canine infectious respiratory disease spread even more aggressively. Giselle still couldn't get the vaccine for her own clinic, so she decided to take her dog to another hospital for the shot, just to be safe.

However, before she could do that, she woke up the very next morning and noticed that something was off with her dog. It was lethargic, sluggish, and had no appetite. It even showed signs of vomiting, along with a rasping cough.

Giselle thought it was just a common cold, so she gave her dog some medicine she had at home. But it didn't seem to help.

Giselle then took her dog to her own clinic for a blood test, and the results left her stunned. Her dog had, unfortunately, been infected.

She had no time to dwell on where her dog had caught the virus. All she could think about now was how to cure it, her mind in complete turmoil.

According to reports on the outbreak, 90% of infected dogs didn't make it. Dog owners everywhere were devastated, and fewer than 20 had been lucky enough to pull through.

Even as an experienced veterinarian, she felt powerless. She could only give her dog some medication to ease the symptoms, but over the next two days, his condition still didn't improve.

Giselle hurriedly called a friend who worked in developing veterinary medicines, Herbert Pierce. "Herbert, has your company developed any kind of medicine for this virus?"

Herbert sighed on the other end. "We're not in a position to do something like that. We never even considered taking it on.

"I heard Kane Group has already developed the medicine, though it's not being produced on a large scale yet. But word has it that it works really well.

"Didn't they develop the vaccine? That means they'd be ahead of the game on the treatment, too. No other company could rival them."
