Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 156

Giselle waited outside until a little past noon. Sure enough, she spotted Donovan's tall, imposing figure walking down the hallway before entering his office.

After gathering herself, she pushed open his office door and found him smoking by the floor-to-ceiling window. When he turned at the sound of the door and saw her, his expression stiffened. He clearly hadn't expected her to show up at his office.

Giselle walked right up to him and cut to the chase. "I'm here to ask for the vaccine for the recent canine respiratory disease. My dog's been infected. There's no other way to save him, so I'm asking for your help."

After hearing that, his gaze grew colder as he turned back toward the window and took another drag from his cigarette. He hadn't expected that the reason she'd come to see him… was for her dog.

"Well? Are you going to help me or not?" she pressed.

"Is that how you ask for a favor?" he fired back.

Giselle stared at his familiar yet cold profile, memories flooding her mind. Her chest felt tight as she said, "I just hope for the sake of what we once had, you'll do me this small favor." Deep down, she was unwilling to submit to him.

"I can't help you." He took several hard drags from his cigarette. "It's just a dog. If it dies, it dies. Don't throw away your dignity again in front of me. Get lost!" With that, he stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and started walking toward his private lounge.
