Just as Giselle hesitated, Gideon noticed the dog curled up on the other end of the couch. "What's wrong with your dog? Sick again?"
Seeing her dog's weak and raspy state, Giselle was reminded that he still hadn't recovered completely yet. The thought of having to go back to the Kane Group for medicine weighed on her again.
She explained everything to Gideon, including the real reason she had gone to see Donovan tonight.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" As a fellow dog owner, he understood her attachment to her dog.
"Don't go to him again. I'll handle it." He got up and gently scooped Giselle's dog into his arms. Then, he said confidently, "I'll take him to get the meds right now. Tomorrow, you'll see him bouncing around like nothing has happened."
"What? Where are you even going to get the medicine?" She thought he was just saying things.
"I'll go to Uncle Ethan."
"Forget it. I don't want to strain your relationship with him over something like this."
"Do you think something that small could strain us?" Gideon chuckled.
Then, he continued confidently, "You have no idea. My uncle treats me better than most fathers treat their sons. Sure, he grumbles, but he still gives me whatever I want in the end. Whether it's money, women, or anything, he always gives in.
"He's the one person who changed my life. Sometimes I wonder why he still cares so much about me, even though he already has his own son. I don't get it. But somehow, my life turned around the moment I met him. I was born doomed, but he flipped my fate…"
