Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 201

Gideon didn't give her a chance to protest. "We're buying it. Let's go." He pulled her to her feet and steered her out the door.

Giselle's head was already spinning, so she let him drag her into the elevator, down to the lobby, and into the passenger seat of his Bentley.

He clearly had plenty of experience buying diamonds for women. In less than 20 minutes, he navigated the city streets with ease and brought her to a high-end department store downtown that specialized in luxury goods.

At a Bulgari counter, the sales staff greeted him with exaggerated warmth, addressing him as "Mr. Grayson". Judging by their familiarity, he was no stranger here.

After a quick exchange with the store manager, he asked to see the most expensive diamond ring they had in stock. Since there had been no advance reservation, the priciest available were several pieces from their line. The manager presented three rings with diamonds over five carats for him to choose from.

"Here. Pick one yourself. If nothing catches your eyes, we'll go somewhere else." Gideon draped an arm loosely over her shoulders, urging her to decide.

Giselle had never worn anything close to this level of extravagance. The most expensive necklace she'd ever owned had cost just over 200 thousand dollars, and she'd never bought a diamond ring as there'd never been an occasion for one.

Now, with these million-dollar pieces glittering before her, she felt a little lightheaded. The clarity, color, and cut were all flawless, their brilliance almost blinding. Pretending she wasn't tempted would have been a lie.

Prodded by Gideon, she tried on a few. The oval-cut stone on her slender, pale hand was breathtaking.

"Which one do you like?" he asked.
