"So it's Mr. Kane," Giselle said coolly over the phone. "Here's the thing. I'm getting married soon. My fiance needed funds for an investment, so I gave the money to him."
Her casual tone made Donovan's expression darken until it was as black as thunder.
He forced his voice low, trying to leash the fury in his chest. "What the hell is that supposed to mean? I gave you that settlement, and you handed it over to another man?"
Giselle was silent for a few seconds before letting out a cold laugh. "Donovan, you're ridiculous. You transferred that money into my name, and you said it was a gift. That means I can spend it however I want, on whomever I want. Exactly what right do you have to interfere?"
Without waiting for him to respond, she hung up.
Donovan's rage boiled over. He hurled his phone hard at the floor. It didn't break, but it bounced toward the doorway, striking the foot of someone coming in.
It was Ethan.
Seeing Donovan in such a state, Ethan looked on in puzzlement. He bent to pick up the phone and walked over to the bed. "What's wrong, Don? Blowing up at one of your executives again?"
Donovan hadn't planned to speak, but the moment he saw Ethan, his anger erupted. "That bastard you took in, why don't you keep him on a leash?"
Ethan froze for a moment, recognizing the jab at Gideon, and sighed.
