Yet, Donovan gave no heed to Ethan's warning. He had made up his mind.
After the three men were stuck at an impasse for around 30 minutes, Tony arrived at Gideon's villa with his driver.
The moment Tony saw the Kanes' grim faces and felt the tension in the air as he stepped into the house, his heart skipped a beat.
"What on earth is going on?" he asked Ethan.
Ethan quickly explained Giselle's disappearance, the message Gideon had received from the kidnappers, and why they couldn't involve the police.
As a doctor, Tony had never encountered anything this severe before. Completely at a loss, his first instinct was to call the police.
Just then, Gideon received another message from the kidnapper.
"Deal. Tomorrow, 5:00 am at Orrensund Bridge. Drive on your own and prepare five million dollars in cash to exchange for your woman. Remember not to get the police involved."
The message made Gideon feel more at ease. At least Giselle was still alive, and the kidnappers had given him a chance to trade himself for her.
"Fine. As long as you can guarantee her safety, I'll be there on time."
His mind was a tangled mess now—the only thing he could think of was rescuing Giselle and making sure she returned safely. The consequences he had to bear for his actions didn't even cross his mind.
Instead of sitting here and worrying himself to death, he'd rather deal with the situation head-on.
