Giselle watched as Surtur's men made their way to the foot of the tree, looking everywhere else for her except up into the tree. They probably didn't think a woman like her would be able to climb her way up such a thick trunk.
Just when she was trying to be as quiet as humanly possible, she felt something moving slowly on her hand. She initially thought it was a caterpillar, but when she looked down, she saw that a snake was slithering from the tree onto her hand.
The snake had red stripes on it. Even though Giselle couldn't tell what species it was, it didn't take much for her to know that it was a venomous snake, and if she wasn't careful, she would be bitten and could die from the venom.
They were right—misfortune never came singly.
If it had been other women, they would have already been so afraid they would lose control of their bodily functions, or scream their lungs out in fear.
Fortunately, Giselle was a veterinary medicine graduate with ample time and experience with all sorts of animals, including those that flew in the skies, crawled on the ground, swam in the seas, and burrowed in the earth.
Paired with her naturally brave personality, she had no fear of these creatures that most human beings were afraid of. To her, it was like she had just seen an ordinary bug.
She grabbed the head of the snake in a calm, professional manner and quickly took hold of its body with ease. After making sure that the snake was no longer able to bite her, she looked down the tree. A man was standing right below the tree at that moment, so she dropped the snake accurately on the man's neck.
When he finally noticed that something was wrong, as he reached behind his neck in an attempt to grab hold of the thing he felt, the aggressive snake bit him hard on his hand and curled itself tight around his arm.
That man let out a painful scream, causing his other comrades to come to him hurriedly to assess the situation. They could no longer care about whether there was anything happening with the tree when they saw that he was poisoned. They quickly helped him down the mountain so he could seek medical help.
When the men had gone far and Giselle could no longer see or hear them, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
