Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 266

Giselle met Orin's eyes for a brief moment. Her mind was blank. She didn't know what to say, so all she could do was stare at him with vacant eyes.

Orin hadn't exploded into rage immediately. Instead, he reached out his hand to her, and with a grave voice, he said, "Get up."

Giselle gave him her hand, and he pulled her up swiftly.

"Come back with me," Orin said as he plucked the leaves out of her hair gently. There were no signs of him being furious at her at all.

However, it was precisely this kind of calm before the storm that was truly terrifying.

Giselle took a deep breath quietly and lamented self-deprecatingly, "You might as well just kill me right now. I never want to go back to that place ever again."

"I won't kill you," Orin replied in broken Valanthean as he stared intently at her. "I'll bring you to another place. All you need to do is continue to work for me and not run away. I won't hurt you."

Giselle didn't feel much as she listened to Orin's enticing words. She quickly settled down in her mind as the gears in her brain worked overtime.

"Okay." She smiled, then added guiltily, "I knew I wouldn't be able to run away, and you'd surely find me. I ran out of energy a long time ago—that was why I was waiting here for you to find me. Since you've promised not to kill me, I'll follow you back now."

"Let's go," Orin replied as he held her by her wrist and brought her down the mountain from another direction.

He clearly knew his way around the mountain, and he knew the shortest route down, unlike Giselle, who was just dashing around in random directions.

Orin had never once revealed the intention of wanting to kill her throughout. Not only did he hold onto her when he noticed that she was injured, but he also helped her fend off snakes on his own initiative when they appeared.
