Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 289

The staff had long heard about Giselle's disappearance. They often speculated that she wouldn't return, so when she did, they were just as shocked.

From then on, she poured most of her energy into running the shop. She left home early and returned late each day as she helped handle various tasks in the store.

Amidst this busy routine, she regained her old rhythm of life and slowly emerged from the shadows of the past.

These days, Gideon was also tied up with work. He hadn't visited Giselle at home and only kept in touch with her through phone calls and WhatsApp.

One evening when she came home, she found a woman of about forty standing at her door. This woman was dressed in an outfit that resembled a housekeeper's uniform, and there was something familiar about her.

"Hello, are you Ms. Holt?" the woman greeted politely, then quickly introduced herself. "I'm Joanne Wes, the housekeeper at Mr. Kane's home. He has arranged for me to work here for you from now on, so I've been waiting to meet you."

Giselle was momentarily taken aback before waving her hand in refusal. "That's not necessary. You can go home. I don't need a housekeeper."

"How can that be, Ms. Holt? Please don't make things difficult for me!" Joanne pleaded anxiously. "Mr. Kane specifically arranged for me to come here. He even doubled my salary and insisted I take good care of your daily needs."

She continued, her voice tinged with desperation, "Mr. Kane even said that I'll lose my job if you turn me away. He's already hired someone else to replace me at his villa. So… Please, don't put me in this difficult position.

"And don't worry! I worked for Mr. Kane for five years! I'm very experienced, and cooking is my specialty," she pressed on earnestly. "Just tell me what you'd like to eat, and I'll make sure it's perfect for you. I heard you have a dog, too, so I… I can even make homemade dog food!

"I'll walk your dog, keep your place spotless, and even take care of your laundry. Yes, I'll even wash your underwear. I'll do anything you need as long as you'll let me work for you."
