Chapter 54
Zachary moved so quickly that Giselle couldn’t react in time at all. Her mind went blank for a moment. Even Eastin suddenly started barking, realizing she was kuing somente rather than Donovan.
When Zachary leaned in for another kisa, Giselle managed to pushi hhim away.
“I’m sorry,” he said, leaning back against his seat. He was panting heavily, and his heart was racing. He fell deeply conflicted.
Zachary had been in many relationships before, but in every one of them, the women had always been the ones trying to please him.
He was used to having any woman he wanted. He never imagined he’d be the one trying so hard to please someone else. After all, he was rich, handsome, and charming, and yet he was always cautious when it came to Giselle.
But Giselle didn’t react strongly. She wasn’t fostered, angry, or panicked. She simply sat there quietly, showing no signs of frustration. She knew perfectly well why Zachary had invited her out today.
Over the past few years, countless men had been interested in her, and she had played along, enjoying their company for her own reasons.
She treated some of them like best friends and had fun with them. With others, she kept them around as backup because of their status or wealth. Sometimes she saw thein as personal banks–like Donovan
But she had never seriously considered dating any of them. And now, there was something she wanted from Zachary too, but it wasn’t money.
“I’m sorry for offending you, Giselle.” After apologizing, Zachary looked at her deeply again. “I wanted to give you the car as a tolon of my feelings… and ask you to be no girlfriend. 1 really like you. Will you be with me?”
After a brief silence, Giselle replied awkwardly, “Zach, I don’t think we’re compatible.”

At that, Giselle finally looked up and met his gaze.
