Chapter 66
But because of Giselle’s resentment toward her biological father, Tony, she deliberately defied him and close veterinary medicine. She’d rather deal with cats and dogs daily, even if it meant her hands were constantly scratched, than treat messy, complicated humans.
After chatting for a while, Dorothea gave the order for dinner and asked Adrian to get Ethan and Donovan down from upstairs.
Within minutes, the two men who had just been discussing work in the upstairs study came down. They were still talking about some important project as they descended the staircase.
Giselle calmly tumed her gaze toward the curved staircase, eyes landing on Donovan.
Halfway down, he happened to look up and locked eyes with her.
Donovan paused briefly, his steps slowing just a little.
Seeing her show up at the Kane manor again, he should have been furious. But after their last heated confrontation, he seemed much calmer. His face gave nothing
Giselle was always testing his limits, and he was done wasting energy on her.
Once he reached the bottom of the stairs, he didn’t even glance in her direction. He walked straight to the dining room as if she were invisible.
Giselle’s eyes followed him, a cold smile tugging at her lips.
In truth, she had already confirmed with household staff here that Donovan would be at the Kane manor tonight.
