“The Sterling family and the New York mafia have always stayed out of each other’s way. What is Vincent Marcelli doing here?”

Guests began to whisper, their murmurs spreading through the ballroom. All eyes were on the tall figure in the doorway.

“Why is he staring at Miss Sophia like that? Don’t tell me he’s here to crash the wedding.”

Almost instantly, Alexander pulled Sophia into his arms, shielding her with his body. But Sophia was surprisingly calm.

She looked at Vincent and smiled. “Mr. Marcelli, what brings you here? A wedding gift?”

His jaw tightened, veins standing out on his neck. His voice was raw. “Sophia, come back with me.”

Sophia’s smile widened. “Go back to what? To watch you take care of Isabella?”

“I don’t love Isabella!”

Vincent’s voice was almost a roar, stunning the crowd into silence.

“I love you!”

The guests gasped, and the whispers erupted.

“He really is here to crash the wedding!”

“I thought he was immune to women. But he falls for the same woman as the Sterling heir?”

Alexander sneered. “Mr. Marcelli, you’re not welcome here.”

Alexander frowned, worried, but finally nodded. “I’ll go with you.‘

Sophia shook her head. “I’ll go alone.”

Inside the black car, Sophia sat in the passenger seat, calmly looking out the window. Vincent was in the driver’s seat, his tie crooked, his eyes bloodshot. He had never looked so disheveled.
