“Bring them in.” Maximus said darkly. His mood turned sour. His happy moment with his mate had long gone, as anger consumed him again, though this time he was more grounded.

Five warriors entered the war room and each of them had a shifter with them. The five of them had silver bracelet, which prevented them from shifting into their beast.

“Tell me who else involved in this?” Maximus walked towards them, and the five shifters were trembling in fear in the presence of their king. They didn’t dare to lift their head and kept begging for forgiveness, which they would never get.

“No one else… my king… no one else,” one of them said.

They were the senior warriors, who guarded the border, but somehow the Barlukan people managed to bribe them and let some of their warriors to slip inside their territory.

Elder Gayle managed to get their names when one of the warriors confessed that he had witnessed the deal between his senior warriors and the enemies.

“No one else…”

“How many of them?”

“Five…”

“Five what?!” Maximus roared angrily. These imbeciles had weakened the kingdom by letting the enemies entered their turf!

This was an insult for all the fallen warriors, who died during the war.

“Five thousand…” The shifter immediately begged for mercy, as if his life was depending on this, but then he should have thought about his life before he betrayed his kingdom and his king.

“Five thousand?!”

“That’s an army!”

“They can create chaos here!”

“How can they do that?”

All of the people in the war room murmured in disbelief as they heard the number of the warriors that had intruded their territory.

“When it happened?” Maximus finally asked the ultimate question.

“A few weeks ago, Royal Beta Gerald came with two thousands warriors.” This statement confirmed the report that Maximus received from the landslide site that the royal beta of Barlukan Kingdom was here. “And three thousand more came a week ago…”

The other shifter explained in detail, as if he wanted to curry a favor, presented himself as willing to cooperate in hope he would get a lenient.

“How many enemies died during the landslide?”

“Five hundred people and still counted,” the royal warrior replied. He felt bad for the senior warriors in front of him, but he was also mad because they had betrayed the king. This was the consequences of their action.

They had no one to be blamed, but themselves.

“So, at least around four thousand enemy warriors still roam around my kingdom undetected.”

“My king, please show your mercy! Please, show your mercy!” The five of the chorused at the same time. Even all the warriors and the elders got to their knees, as they could feel the shift in the air.

Maximus didn’t yell. Hell, he didn’t even say anything, he only stood there, and watched all of them begged for his forgiveness. He had nothing to give to them when all he wanted was for them to be gone.

He closed his eyes, trying to focus on Rania’s face, her little lips, and her soft skin…

However, it was hard for him to tame his rage when she was away, and his mind kept telling him that she was not here, so he could let loose.

Yet, the sadness in her eyes kept him grounded. He didn’t want to disappoint her by killing the innocent people.

But, these five were not innocent…

Maximus walked slowly towards the five senior warriors, who were still trembling in fear, begging him for

their lives.

The king didn’t hear them, he only heard the blood rushing in his ear when he approached one of them. He put his hand on his head, and used his claw to crush his skull.

The scrunching sound was nauseating. When the blood oozed out, pooled around the floor, and the king moved to the second man, the squelching sound of blood against his footstep made all of the people’s hearts dropped to their stomach.

No one dare to say a thing, not even elder Gallant, who had been opposing the king’s decision every step of the way.

“I beg you… I beg you, my king. Aargghhh!!! Help me! Help! Aarrgghh!!!”

His scream for help didn’t last for long when his throat was clawed opened, and his head rolled on the floor.

Some of the bystander had to swallow their bile when the gruesome sight was offered before their eyes.
