Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2180

When Tyler opened his eyes and stared up at the stark white ceiling, it felt as if the last few days were playing on a loop in his mind.

He reached up, massaging his brow, then yanked the IV out of his hand.

Bert rolled his eyes. “What are you up to now?”

“Going home.”

“What?”

Tyler couldn’t be bothered to explain. He just got up, headed downstairs, and climbed straight into his car.

Bert stood in the driveway, shaking his head. This guy was seriously out of his mind—never willing to rest and recover, always chasing after something.

After having the mole removed, Tyler took a cab home alone.

He spent a week resting at home. The scar faded, and his illness finally cleared up for good.

When Bert came to visit, he brought an armful of groceries.

“Thank God you didn’t go loitering around her building again. Honestly, have some dignity.”

“It won’t happen again.”

Bert leaned in, noticing the missing mole on Tyler’s nose.

“You actually did it, huh? All this for a woman? Seriously?”

Tyler said nothing. His mouth tasted bitter.

Bert clapped him on the shoulder. “By the way, remember Elsa from last time? She’s in Greenfield now. I ran into her last night. She’s my date these days—funny woman, wears her scheming right on her face.”

Tyler barely remembered what Elsa looked like—just that she’d gone to high school with Athena.

“Oh, right. Elsa wanted me to tell you—she said Athena will never forget her first love. Maybe you’re just a stand-in for the real deal.”

Tyler narrowed his eyes, as if he’d just heard the world’s most ridiculous joke.

Him? Tyler? A substitute?

“Ha! Not a chance.”

“I figured as much. But that’s what Elsa said. The guy’s name is Kerwin, apparently. He had a mole just like yours, right on the tip of his nose. That’s the only thing you two have in common—you don’t even look alike.”

Bert hadn’t finished before Tyler’s face turned terrifyingly dark.
