He thought Athena was pathetic. She was still hung up on her first love, yet instead of going after him, she came to mess with his life.
But, honestly, he found himself even more pathetic. He knew she was only using him as a stand-in, but here he was, sneaking around just to catch a glimpse of her.
His car was parked in a secluded spot, well out of sight. Thanks to his deep connections in the industry, no one questioned him even if he drove right onto set.
Through the window, Tyler watched Athena. He saw her being lowered down from some harness, rubbing her sore wrists afterward. She chatted with a woman he didn’t recognize—probably asking for acting tips.
None of it was particularly interesting, but Tyler watched, captivated, unable to look away.
Filming was due to wrap up by late afternoon, and somewhere in between, Athena’s phone rang. It was Doris.
Athena’s feelings toward Doris were complicated. Part of her couldn’t stop replaying that night in her mind; part of her still considered Doris her best friend. But deep down, she knew they could never go back to how they were.
Doris, blissfully unaware that Athena had witnessed what happened that night, still sounded genuinely concerned.
“Athena, are you back on set again? If you want to come back to the old job, I can talk to the boss. Honestly, I think he regrets letting you go—your reputation’s really grown.”
“It’s fine. I don’t need it,” Athena replied.
Doris hesitated, then pressed on. “And you and Tyler… what’s going on between you two? Last time you brought him to the lounge, I thought you’d finally be together. But now I hear you haven’t even spoken lately.”
Once, Athena would have thought Doris was just worried about her. Now she knew better—Doris was fishing to see if Tyler was single.
“We broke up. For good this time.”
There was a pause on the other end, then Doris asked quietly, “Are you okay? I know how much you liked him. Did he say something awful again? He’s just that kind of guy, you know—never really cares about anyone. I told you so many times—”
Athena cut her off. “I have to get back to work. Honestly, I’m happy with my life right now. Tyler and I are over, for good. Goodbye, Doris.”
Doris stared at her phone after Athena hung up. Was it just her imagination, or had Athena really started to distance herself? Frowning, Doris sighed, unable to make sense of it.
Athena finished her scenes for the day and headed to her car. She’d bought it herself, and she was her own driver now.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
