The car came to a stop outside the restaurant. Athena was the first to get out, striding inside with her head held high. As she disappeared through the door, a waiter approached Tyler.
Turns out, Tyler had already made a reservation.
They sat down, Athena turning away to gaze out the window at the lush greenery outside, her expression distant. Tyler, on the other hand, couldn’t take his eyes off her. His voice dripped with sarcasm as he spoke.
“What’s wrong? Now that the mole’s gone, you can’t even bring yourself to look at me?”
Athena found him insufferable. If he knew the truth, why couldn’t he just keep it to himself? No need to say it out loud and make things even more awkward.
But subtlety had never been Tyler’s style; he kept needling her, his tone sharp.
“I saw your old photos with Kerwin at your high school. Honestly, he wasn’t much to look at.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt Athena’s mood turn glacial.
His chest tightened, but instead of stopping, he twisted the knife deeper.
“If you loved her so much, why not go after him? Why hide out here? Wait—don’t tell me he’s married? Is that it? How sad. Does he even know you’ve been waiting for him all these years?”
Before he could go any further, the waiter returned with two cups of coffee.
Athena picked up her cup and, without a word, hurled the coffee right at Tyler.
It wasn’t the first time he’d been doused like this. Some twisted part of him almost missed the volatility; it was better than watching her sit there like a statue.
Athena’s face was set in stone as she placed her empty cup back on the table.
“Are you awake now?”
Tyler let out a laugh, grabbing a napkin to dab the coffee from his face.
“I doubt I’ll ever wake up. Athena, I still don’t get it. Why did you use me as a stand-in? Was it really just the mole?”
He couldn’t shake the feeling there was something more, but Athena wouldn’t say. Maybe he’d go his whole life never knowing.
It gnawed at him—not knowing, not having closure. Hell, he’d even considered getting the mole put back, just to see if it would change anything. But he was too proud to ever say it out loud.
Athena stood up. “There’s no point in us seeing each other again. If you’re going to keep acting like this, I’ll throw coffee at you every time.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
